If I could give this location more stars I would. Being raised by a man in love with his childhood sub shop in NJ you can only imagine my surprise when my father told me JM was the place to buy subs (outside of his home town). My husband and I have eaten here many times but never with our children as 2/3 of them have food allergies.
On one of our visits we saw the udi’s Gluten free sign. With summer in full swing I decided to give it a try. If they had a bad reaction they at least wouldn’t miss school over it. (If you’re an allergy mom you understand.) Not only did they have gluten free bread they wipe down and do their best to create barriers between my children’s food and the rest of the regular free world’s. The bread was soft and had bounce to it. The children’s meal comes with a cookie which also didn’t disappoint in the slightest and was also allergy friendly.
All of this would win me in easily but the real icing on the cake was a specific employee who fully engaged us when we went to order and even checked in while the kiddos were eating. I wish I knew his name (I’ll update this next time I see him but for now- he’s tall, has some facial hair but not Santa clause status. Only male employee I’ve seen here that fits that description.).
This JM is now a regular spot for my family. It’s close enough to the Amazeum that if I just need to pack up the kids to burn energy and grab a bite to eat I don’t have to worry about finding something that everyone can eat. Thank you JM for the gluten free option that goes past the fad diet and actually thought through what life with a gluten allergy is like. This mom couldn’t be...
Read moreFirst time eating at Jersey Mike's, had several coworkers talk about how good it was so we went for lunch. I ordered an american classic, just a plain ham and provolone sandwich to be safe. Was thinking i could pick the bread as if i was at subway but wasnt given a choice when i ordered. When my sub advanced to the veggie section, i said everything but pickles and banana peppers and was told the sandwich i had picked did not have all that included. Everything was barable until i saw my what i thought complete sandwich being showered back and forth with some unknown liquid, i mean poured on back and forth soaked. The cook noticed my jaw dropping and asked if there was something wrong but he just continued to shower my sub. The menu does not list ingredients on sub, paid a whopping $8 bucks and some change for a regular sub which is equivalent to a 6 inch at subway. Ate the soggy sandwich with extra vinagrette causing my stomach to hurt. Had to chug a bottle of water immediately afterwards to relieve the acidity. Sub would have been ok without vinagrette, but would rather go for jimmy johns or firehouse subs. Wish there was a warning for me to have ordered without the vinager but staff assumes you know...
Read more(4.5) When I was growing up on Florida’s Space Coast I never realized just how fortunate we were to have a locally owned real Italian sub shop within walking distance from school. I even had several friends that moved down from NYC and ran great pizza / sandwich places. So I was “spoiled” thinking it was “easy” to find a good sub. Fast forward many years and many miles and that great sub of yesterday was almost a long forgotten memory till Jersey Mike’s came to town. Sure it’s a chain but they do all they can to make you forget that when you walk through the door.
The #13 Italian Sub done Mike’s Way is as close to that little Florida sub shop as I’ve had in decades. Whereas others try to create flavor with sauces mustards etc, Mike’s gets theirs from good meats and the real magic, a vinegar and oil blend with Italian spices. The thin sliced onions and tomatoes and shredded lettuce nicely hold that blend on their very good bread. The only thing missing was a sprinkling of parmigiana. ( I need to ask about that next visit)
The staff has been well trained. Personal interaction was Mikes forte and it’s part of their business model. There is a small patio area, it’ll be great when...
