I was on my 2 week vacation and the only BAD EXPERIENCE I had was tonight 8/21/25 at place called (Happy Hour) in Toms River New Jersey. The atmosphere and the band and the cliental that I came across in the business were very nice. It got ugly when we got to the place of business 20 minutes to 6:00. No one came to our table to take our order so, we flagged the waitress down and she said she'll be back ...she finally came and took our order. I ordered two medium rare sliders and a order of cheese mozzarella sticks. And the other two people in the party ordered two hot dogs each and we asked the waitress, do any of the orders come with fries. She said no it doesn't... I said well give us a basket of fries along with our orders...but when we got our orders it did come with french fries with the hot dog then the two got their order of hot dogs, and they had eaten their hot dogs and I still had not got my sliders, finally after an hour the sliders came one was medium rare and one was well done. I ordered both medium rare. By then my French fries were cold and I told the waitress the french fries was cold and she said really, with an attitude she took them away and bought the new fries back with an attitude. Then as the night went on she came and asked (Will) there be anything else. I said could I do for you and I said yes the bill. She bought the bill back and on the bill it had where you can leave a tip and I put zero and scratched the line through the zero. She did ask me, was anything wrong with the service I said yes it was terrible she then walked away with an attitude and I sat in my looking at her go over to this bald head guy and he came back to my table and directly spoke to me since I was the one who was signing the receipt. He said was there's something wrong with your service . I said yes and I went into details about my experience with that waitress and he then stated they only work for $5 an hour they rely on their tips and if the service was terrible you should have came to me. I said no there was nothing wrong with some of the food it was just slow service and it took an hour to get my sliders and the attitude of the waitress but after meeting the co-owner ( a muscular bald headed guy) I see where the waitress gets their attitudes from. And I am shocked. I have been to several restaurants here in the United States and abroad and I have never been talked to by a manager all because I did not leave a waitress a Tip . And I will do it again if I go to a place of business and I feel like the service is not worthy of a tip I will not leave a tip again I know some people might think well you should leave a tip, but a tip is something a that is earned for good service. But if I had to give a tip, this is a tip I would have to gave her, be more courteous and I am a generous tipper . I have no problem tipping because I have worked in service and I know how hard it is to earn it. I busted my butt to make a...
ย ย ย Read moreBeen there years ago when I worked nearby but itโs been a real long time. I remembered it as a much more quiet place with a drop down area with a piano. Now-a-days the place is grey and not overwhelmingly welcoming. Entrance is through a package goods store. They had a band that did bring people including myself but the band didnโt seem to fit the crowd that were the regulars. I did not get the feeling that new people were really welcome in this place. This was the opinion of more than one person. There was a menacing looking guy at the bar loudly and publicly badmouthing the band and the persons that came to hear them. He said this was the worst crowd that has come there and that he would rather have had parts of his body smashed then have to listen to the band. Place is small so rather crowded and everyone seemed in the way of each other. I did not get food so no rating there. I met friends there who had a table and I stood along side the table. I ordered beers from the bar and each time it seemed rather difficult do because of crowding and the bartender not noticing people on the fringes. Not a abnormal thing when a place is crowded. There was a waitress but she was rather busy because she was only one but she was pleasant. Oddly Abe Lincoln was there. It is in a retirement community so there were older patrons there, a few biker types, Abe Lincoln, the younger crowd the band brought in a group of middle aged Union local members. Just an odd mix. There was two older ladies having dinner in the middle of a crowd standing for the band, I just couldnโt imagine them enjoying it but there they were. A real weird experience to...
ย ย ย Read moreDecor is bland and very cold. Feels crowded and tight. Food is not good quality. If you are serving hot dogs then get 100% beef, not Oscar Mayer. If serving onion rings then make them yourself, not frozen store bought. If you made the chili yourself then use Campbell's. When we went they had an Elvis impersonator and it was too loud for that size space. I can only imagine what a band would be like. We tried it and not for us. We went 4 weeks after the re-open so still a lot to learn. It is definitely a certain age and above. Everyone has different standards so I'm sure they will have people there. Do not bring your mom unless you have no respect for her and don't mind drunk old guys hitting on her. That was creepy and uncomfortable. But it's a bar in the middle of a retirement oasis. Good luck...
