Im beyond disappointed in Value city. This will be my last purchase from them. We have purchased funiture ftom them in the past with no issues ever. Recently we bought a dining room set, and bedroom funiture. So we spent a lot of money. Dining room set came no issues. I was happy. This bedroom funiture has been the thorn in my side for 2 weeks. And nobody in the Toms River nj store has a clue what they are doing. So I was called a few weeks ago with a delivery date of May 27,th. I purchased 2 so they said they wouod come sat may 24th. They never came. mattresses, a dresser and bed frames and a few other things. So they tell me one of the mattresses aren't in. But they will deliver what they have and come again when other mattress is in. OK I get a text night before with a 3 hour window.. mind you we have taken apart our beds because we were told its getting delivered. Well May 27 comes no finiture. I sat home a holiday weekend Saturday for nothing, now im back and fourth with them all week. They call me and say they can come that Friday. Then manager calls and says they can't. OK so I deal with this all week. Phone calls, the run around all week. Finally on This past Thursday they say okay we can deliver Monday june 2nd. Again I get a phone call and a text confirmation my 3 hour window, with a link to track your order. Well today I click on the link. It says can't find your order. So now I call the store. (Here we go again) so the lady goes oh no i have you scheduled for june4th. Wtf. No. I work june 4th Untold freggin 8 at night. I would hecrr ok that. Plus I was told Today. All they keep telling me is they got a new system blah blah. I dont give a crap about some new system. Get organized. AND DELIVER WHAT I PAID FOR. ITS NOT 50 BUCKS WE ARE TALKING HERE. MEAN TIME WE TOOK OUR BEDS APART. WE ARE SLEEPING ON THE DAM FLOOR. IM GONNA SEND THEM MY DR BILL FOR MY BACK. BEYOND ANNOYED. 6/5/25. So, update@!!! Finally get my delivery. Everything but my bed frame headboard. So now im not totally on the floor. Im on boxsoring and mattress on the floor. This is unbelievable. I was told the dressers were damaged and wouldn't be delivered. Instead they deliver the a dressers,y son's mattress my mattress and box spring When I call now its oh your bed got damaged that's why it wasn't delivered . Bs. They made another mistake Now the bed isn't even coming in until the 11th. What the hell This has been the longest but drawn out unbelievable process ever. In meantime I have canceled a very important eye dr appointment (im a glaucoma patient) but had to cancel for funiture delivery and they never showed up. Here I am still without my dam bed Never again. And they are just like, oh well we got a new company nothing we can do. That's not how you...

My wife and I had placed an order with Greg Beveradge (Sales Manager) early November 2018. We were so excited because we had just gotten married and moved to our new home close by. We needed to furnish our home and thought Value City would be a good place to purchase the furniture. We both knew exactly what we had wanted going in with all of the information for the sales rep so it would make his job easier and the process quicker than looking around the store, so, we had placed an order for a couch and a custom fabric recliner.
Fast forward 2 months, the recliner finally arrives because there is a 2 month wait period for them to complete it and it's the wrong recliner. We immediately call the store, speak to the sales person and he assures me there is nothing to worry about, that were not held responsible and to come into the store because "store policy" they cannot issue a refund over the phone and I will have to be helped by the store manager for the refund.
When I get there, everything Greg Beveradge had told me was not the case. The store manager was incredibly rude to my wife and I, as if he had known he was not issuing me the refund before I had gotten there and made me waste time to come down just to hear that.
For a customer knowing exactly what he wants and having it prepared for the sales rep, you should get what you ordered and not be made to feel like an idiot for it. I understand that mistakes are made every single day, but Value City's mistake should not be made to be mine. If you're ordering a couch and you get the wrong color, size, shape, brand, etc., should that be the buyers problem, or the sellers?
Fast forward to present date now June 6th of 19. We met a resolution with corporate because I made a huge stink about the matter and I returned the couch and recliner I had purchased from them. To this date now, I am still getting letters in the mail with a balance due because I had financed the products. Value City is so backwards it is not even funny.
Value City of Toms River. I will never purchase from you or your company, ever again. I’ve never had to deal with customer service like yours before and I don’t ever plan on doing so. You all should be ashamed of yourselves for how you represent yourselves. I hope who ever reads this review takes my advice in shopping for furniture elsewhere. Even if it is more expensive, you’ll just be wasting your time with this company and you’ll regret doing so. Don’t try to save a buck with them, go to Ashley’s or Raymore and Flannigan and have a...
Read moreI'm rating 5 stars. This isn't buying a chicken dinner. Furniture can be a major and expensive purchase for your home. I've purchased furniture on 3 occasions within the last 3 years. I've ordered an Ashley kitchen table about three years back. This past March (2016), an Ashley dresser w/mirror and a box spring. All were delivered on time as promised and in excellent condition.
I made a return visit yesterday (10/2016) and bought a sofa, San Miguel Hemp. Also Ashley's accent chair, end table and cocktail table and threw in a lamp. My salesman Mike C. was so very nice. I like the sales people there because they don't "hawk" you. At least in my experience. He (Mike) stayed in the vicinity and when I had a question was available, had knowledge and was able to answer them. I like that. He was very patient as I was so confused with what I wanted. They have good brand named furniture, very nice quality, reasonably priced. They have good sales, so keep an out out. They have "scratch off" sales which I received 30% off. Over $1,500 was free delivery. Normally $75. I would recommend Value City for price and quality. They have have a range in pricing. Higher end furniture is more expensive.
Side note: I see a review by a reviewer who is obviously ignorant to financing and reading at what they are signing. They should have paid cash if they were that deeply concerned about their credit report and how it is being reported. Albeit they thought they were receiving a loan amount (like a car) which would appear on their credit report as an "Installment" account. Either way (loan/credit), it is debt owed and will affect your FICO score and part of your credit history.
As most financially intelligent people are aware, before you sign anything, LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING! READ THROUGH THE AGREEMENT! It is clearly a revolving line of credit and the application they ask you to fill out it clearly says credit card agreement.
They have "in house" financing. There is no Value City credit card. They do take major credit cards. The financing available is through Wells Fargo. They run a credit check which will be a "hard" pull and affect your FICO score to a degree. This is my first time financing through them. I was clearly told this by the salesman and the agreement form I signed. I financed interest free for 2 years with paying the tax upfront. Interest free is a good deal if you pay it off accordingly. As of the day I made my purchase, depending on the financing plan you choose with Value City, can be interest free from 2-4 years. 2 years if you pay the tax upfront and 4 years if you put down 20%.
Before you borrow money, be wise. No one is forcing you. Be a...
