Cafe Milano — Restaurant in Berkeley

I have not been here. But, someone I know went there with friends and then that shooting happened yesterday night and a male staff member kicked them out…they begged and pleaded to stay inside, but couldn’t? :( She even said that he told them “I don’t care you need to leave now!!” I’m not sure if she’ll post their more firsthand account review at some point—I cannot imagine having to process this. But that is extremely scary, traumatizing, and disheartening that that happened—it could have been so much worse and someone needed to say something about it. Places I have worked at have discussed if a shooting happens we lock up the store and shelter in place with the customers too so I didn’t think this was a possibility? Please please please have a better plan in place than that. Or make everyone staff wise aware of the plan you do...

The drinks are pretty bad. The chai latte was way too milky, and had lots of undissolved sweetener at the bottom. The espresso in the cappuccino was bitter and very burnt. The sweet spinach/peach smoothie was okay, but it was literally just spinach blended with peach juice. Furthermore, the tables don't get cleaned enough; they're often dirty with crumbs and drink stains from previous customers.

Gets an extra star for being a good study environment though! Music isn't too loud and the ambience is relaxing. Just be aware that it can get pretty busy during the day. Also, the prices are pretty reasonable as far as Berkeley goes.

Tldr: Come for a chill place to study or meet people. Don't expect the drinks to...

this review has nothing to do with the food, but about the fact that during the shooting at a near by college, there were students inside this cafe who pleaded with the people in this cafe to let them stay inside because they didn't know if it was safe to leave (due to the literal shooter on their campus) and guess what they did? they kicked them out... literally forced them to leave the cafe while they were fearing for their own safety and the safety of others, Milano if you delete my review i will come back and make 10 times more.. this is pathetic and...
