First off, I have a vague understanding of the problems driving customer service in America. Too many people, not enough servers, "nobody wants to work", all of which contribute to crowded restaurants and slow service.
That being said, I do not understand why businesses don't adapt to these constraints. It appeared there were two waiters and two bartenders working on a Saturday night. We had dinner at 5:30, then came back for drinks at 9:30.
Dinner was fine, we were up against time constraints (comedy show) so I was a little anxious about getting food and drinks in a timely matter. The food was great, the beer selection and drink selection were also above par. The environment has a great retro sexy feel, which is a nice way to spend a Saturday night. I found the service to be a little slow, again, I understand it was busy, but it seems madness to have two servers taking care of a packed restaurant. Yay capitalism.
When we came back for drinks, I waited 20 minutes at the bar before we ended up leaving. Not even a "I'll be right with you, a general glance in my direction... 2 1/2 bartenders were working behind the bar, one of them was visibly overwhelmed, and drinks were trickling out of the bar. Again, I get it. It's Saturday night. So why not making an adjustment. Limit how many people can come in the bar... I know, I know...capitalism.
Then fine, limit drinks to beer or wine until the crowd gets under control. There are plenty of other options besides losing your bearing as a bartender and not getting drinks out from behind the bar. I have already spent my money and my time in the restaurant, I would like my experience to match what is being advertised on Google and...
Read moreGood atmosphere, however food has disappointed, I went in here because I was told that Chris Kronner makes his burgers at this restaurant after the piedmont location shut down. So I went with an expectation and they couldn't live up to that as the burger was tasteless, nothing to do with the one I was looking for, it was built in a half-hearted way, the bun wasnt fresh, patty was dry althpıgh it was kinda pink in the center. The fries that came with thr burger was lame, dry and overfried. I was told by the bartender that they are not offering the same product that they offered atvthe Kronner Burger Piedmont which I found misleading as the graduate hotels website gives you the impression that you should be able to get close to what they offered at the Kronner Burger. I'm not impressed with this restaurant as the burger we were served definitely did not deserve $15 price tag, I might have gotten the same quality burger at McDonalds for 5 bucks. I do hope that they fix this problem with this specific burger. Not...
Read moreWe love trying new places in Berkeley and Henrys has been on my list for a while. We had never had a Kronnerburger but it sounded intriguing. We decided to try their Happy Hour and a burger and were quite disappointed. The Happy Hour is a joke with $8 so so wine and a daiquiri. The Henry burger was $1 off but charged $2 each for bacon and cheese. And then the burger..... We ordered medium and it was a hockey puck well done, small, tasteless. We don’t even think it was seasoned with salt??? The special sauce was unremarkable, no flavor. A single iceberg lettuce leaf and my cheese was solid, no melting at all. The french fries were just okay but were not crispy or warm. The only part of the meal we enjoyed at all was the Tartine bun but not enough to save the burger. The price totaled about $22 for the burger and would not return at a fraction of that cost. We would not recommend. If this is their signature dish, cannot imagine what the other dishes...
