The Palo Alto store was more like a modern boutique than a bakery. Store staffs (2 elderly guys) were very friendly and recommended me black bottom walnut pie and raspberry chocolate pie. It was so hard to choose from all the beautiful looking pies but I ended up choosing the black bottom walnut pie because I was told it was being made at the moment and I could get a freshly baked one if I wait a bit. When I finally received the pie, I was a bit surprised that I didn’t feel it warm but I didn’t think too much about it. When I cut it to serve, bottom crust looked undercooked and also tested doughy… the other crust wasn’t crispy too. It was more like a stale sugar cookie. Maybe I should bake it myself to eat the rest. But It was disappointing because I love flaky pie crust.

I got a gorgeous strawberry rhubarb pie from the Palo Alto pop up and it was not great. It was gorgeous, yes, but the pie’s lattice top was way too thick, mushy, and tasted like raw dough even though the top was nicely browned. The filling was good, but I would not pay this much for a not-so-fresh pie with scant filling and raw dough. The bottom was undercooked also. I was expecting a buttery, flaky crust. It’s really too bad because the pie was visually stunning. The taste of it reminded me of a Trader Joe’s baked item— not freshly made; slightly stale, and skimpy on the fruit. Probably the worst pie I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of pie! I even looked on the box to see if there were some baking directions I might have missed, but there were none. It was that bad.

Everyone from our friends and family who have tried their pies have loved them! One of my favorite spots for pies in Oakland :) We recently tried: - raspberry chocolate - spiced apple - key lime pie - walnut pie (similar to the pecan pie) AMAZING all of them. We brought them over to our friends' place to eat it after dinner and everyone loved them. It is a bit pricey (5.5$ each pie slice) but the taste is amazing. They also do cooking classes so I signed up for the next one whenever it will be. Got to learn to make delicious pies for my habibi :) highly highly recommend!

The pie was great. The experience was not.

If you charge people $50 for ONE delivered pie, it’s officially a luxury item. I have no problem paying. However, I expect a smooth experience.

Ordered a frozen pie for an event(chocolate strawberry). The pie was great. However, it was not ready for an event. Why? They didn’t include cooking instructions and they were closed on Sunday when we called. :/

The company sells different pies(meat and produce) that are meant to be enjoyed at different temperatures. Each pie should have those instructions clearly attached for that specific pie. If you deliver pies frozen, you should include clear instructions for each pie. No one wants to risk messing up an expensive pie and your generic instructions on your site aren’t clear for each specific pie.

Small mistake but when you charge luxury prices they can’t be made. The effort was put in to include marketing material with the pie. You’re obviously focusing on the business. The same attention should be paid towards an enjoyable experience start to finish.....or lower...
