Raleigh's Pub — Restaurant in Berkeley

Raleigh's is one of my favorite spots to go visit in Berkeley! It's right next to the equally great lunch spot Mezzo in the same building, so I've been to one or the other several times.

During the day, I love going to Raleighs just to relax with a beer and do some work on my laptop, as they have pretty good Wi-Fi (inside - it can be a bit spotty on the outdoor patio). In the evening, it's one of my favorite hangout spots to come with friends and meet new people, especially on Thursday's and Friday's! It's always a blast and there's usually someone chugging a beer on the counter to celebrate a birthday!

The employees are all very fun and engaging, with activities such as the aforementioned birthday celebrations occurring almost nightly. It gets rather busy, but it's a really good space both indoors and outdoors with ample room. The patio outside is awesome and has an outdoor bar and fire pit area, although they usually close it around 10 PM. The indoor space is also very spacious and has both communal tables, booths, and other seating. There's something for everyone!

I usually come for a few beers, but I've gotten the food a few times as well, and it's equally as great. I especially love the wings here - the sauce is delicious!! Portions are great and the pricing is very reasonable. There's also Taco Tuesday specials on margaritas and $2 tacos!

This is one of the best places to come hang out at in Berkeley and have some fun. I highly recommend Raleigh's...

I've been a Raleigh's customer since 1994. Despite burning down, it has been a well loved go to spot for myself and many of my friends when seeking the perfect Burger/Beer/Fries combination that is oddly difficult to find these days. Their french fries were likely some of the best in 3 counties, the burger was beefy - thick - juicy, with a classic sesame seed bun, the meal was tastefully served on a warm ceramic plate. Well, something happened last year and today the package looks very different and unfortunately underwhelming. Almost like they got a new manager who is more interested in their own vision than what customers want. I almost sent it back when it arrived because I was expecting something similar to my last visit and this new burger was not it. The meal came out on a cold tin sheet. The fries were completely different, less shoe string - more soggy, less quantity, and served in an enamel dish that resembled a 2nd hand spitoon from an abandoned rest home. The burger was fitted with a facsimile brioche bun, the beef patty was thiner and less course in the grind resulting in an unfamiliar texture compared to the last burger I had there. The beers remain excellent. I would recommend transferring the new burger format into a fake meat menu item and adding the old burger back to the menu. Charge more for the old burger with the good fries served on a plate...

*DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR PALATE WITH THIS TRASH OF A BUSINESS!! I TOOK MY DAUGHTER, WHO WAS GRADUATING COLLEGE, ALONG WITH INLAWS,FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR DINNER TO THIS TERRIBLE PLACE, THE STAFF WAS INCREDIBLY RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL AND STRAIGHT DOWN HORRIBLE, THE FOOD WAS AT BEST A "C" ON THE HEALTH RATING CHART, THE FACILITY WAS DIRTY, DISORGANIZED AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE. WE WERE ALLOWED TO ORDER OUR FOOD AT 9:00PM, OUR FOOD DID NOT SHOW UP UNTIL 9:45 AND SOME OF THE FOOD DIDN'T EVEN ARRIVE UNTIL 9:55, AND WE WERE LITTERALY SCOLDED AND THREATENED FOR NOT WANTING TO LEAVE AS DEMANDED BY A COUPLE INCREDIBLY RUDE WAITRESSES BEFORE FINISHING OUR FOOD. EVEN AFTER ASKING FOR THE STAFF TO HELP US MOVE OUR FOOD INSIDE, THEY REFUSED AND INSISTED THAT WE HAD TO LEAVE HALF OUR UNEATEN FOOD AND LEAVE. THE ONLY STAFF MEMBER THAT WAS RESPECTFUL AND PROFESSIONAL WAS THE SECURITY GUARD THAT TOLD THE WAITRESSES TO CALM DOWN AND GIVE US 2 MINUTES TO FINISH OUR FOOD. WHEN I WENT TO CLOSE THE BILL OUT, A 3RD WAITRESS LITTERALY TOLD ME TO MY FACE " GET OUT OF MY BAR AND DONT COME BACK"... THE WHOLE STAFF, OTHER THAN THE SECURITY GUARD, NEEDS TO BE FIRED, REPLACED AND PROPERLY TRAINED, THE PLACE CLEANED FROM HEAD TO TOE, AND THE MENU COMPLETELY OVERHAULED. IT WAS AN EMBARRASSING AND HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. SHAME ON THE MANAGEMENT AND OWNERSHIP TEAM FOR ALLOWING THIS...
