The “convenience fee” should be eliminated because it is deceptive. I thought I would pay 12.99 for a sandwich, only to find that at the register there is an additional charge. No other businesses do this.
additionally, the justification the cashier gave me for this fee is not right. She told me that the fee exists because minimum wage was raised. This justification presupposes the idea of perfect elasticity between the prices of labor and of goods, which is not a real phenomenon. there are many examples of minimum wage rising but the price of goods DECREASING (because workers have more money to put back into the economy). Also, a flat rate charge per transaction does not scale with the cost of labor: if I order a bunch of items, labor costs increase more or less proportionately, but the convenience fee does not, the point being that even from a management perspective this fee is not a good way to cover rising costs of labor.
I would have walked away from the register but my girlfriend wanted a sandwich. This fee should...
Read morePretty disappointed because the reviews for this spot were really good! But overall, the food is incredibly over priced for what you get. Sandwich was fine but it was $18.. for an 8 inch sandwich and extra charges for basic toppings like pickles, cucumber, banana peppers. I paid extra for banana peppers and got 5 of them total.. usually most sandwich spots don’t even charge for these. At least put a handful on if you charge extra. But worse than that was the soup. Not even kidding- $11 dollars for the smallest cup of soup. I thought well it must be really good at least (again, was trusting all the previous good reviews for this spot) but the soup was so bland and flavorless and pretty much just broth…but not even good broth… for double the price of what most would charge for a small side of soup. Overall, I’d get the sandwich again if it was half the price- wasn’t bad just way too expensive for what you get. Vegetable soup was much worse than anything you can get canned at the store, complete...
Read moreI recently visited Sourdough & Co in Berkeley, and it exceeded all my expectations! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, helping me choose the perfect sandwich to suit my taste.
The sourdough bread is simply outstanding—crusty on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. I opted for the Turkey & Avocado, and it was packed with fresh ingredients, all perfectly balanced. The portion size was generous, and the sandwich was crafted with care.
The quality of the food is top-notch, and you can tell they take pride in using fresh, high-quality ingredients. The experience was made even better by the cozy ambiance, which made it the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing lunch. I highly recommend Sourdough & Co to anyone in the Berkeley area looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. I’ll definitely...
