Little Gem Belgian Waffles — Restaurant in Berkeley

My girlfriend and I have come here many a times since they first opened. The restaurant is owned by a cute couple (one of which is a Cal alum... Go Bears!~), and they have since expanded their amazingly friendly staff.

The restaurant itself is clean and inviting, and the logo is cute by itself. However, the seating is somewhat limited, especially on evenings when everyone is craving something sweet! You can always get your waffle to-go, though they are much better fresh. They also have a deal where you buy a bag of day-old waffles for a markedly reduced price.

They have a nice variety of waffle bases and toppings (including our favorite ice cream, Three Twins!), allowing for seemingly limitless decadent and delicious combinations, all reasonably priced. My personal favorite is the Churrofle with creme de gem and Land of Milk & Honey ice cream! 😋 Whatever you decide to get, I am sure it will be absolutely...

Walking past the store it's hard to resist getting at least 1 waffle because of the sweet smell. There aren't that many establishments that sell Belgian waffles so it makes this place special!

With COVID, you can only order online or on the tablet in front of the store. I got 4 mini waffles to try ($12 for 4 or $3.50 each). You can customize the flavor of each mini waffle on the tablet but they are mostly glazes or sugar options, you can't add toppings. The flavors I ended up choosing were chocolate, matcha, powdered sugar, and cinnamon sugar.

Really enjoyed all the waffles I got, but my favorite had to be the powdered sugar. Really appreciated how the glaze wasn't too sweet but just the right balance of sweetness. The waffles aren't that crispy when I got them but overall was soft, warm, and fluffy.

My favorite waffle place in Berkeley. Whenever you walk pass through this place, you can't resist the sweet aroma coming from it, makes you wanna stop & buy the waffle. You can either order existing menu or customize your waffle. The waffle texture was great, it was crispy, with pearl sugar already baked together in it - a typical belgian waffle-. If you order with ice cream, just be carefull that the ice cream was easily melted. The price was cheaper 2 years ago, and then it kept getting more and more expensive 🥲

Unfortunately, they don't provide seating place. That's a shame. I usually seat in berkeley chess club at the nearest intersection of Telegrap Ave & Haste st, and pretending to play the chess lol. Or i just simply go to MLK building or Upper sproul hall only...
