Floral, creamy, balanced aroma ●●●●○ intensity ●●●○○ creaminess ●●●●○ bitterness ●○○○○ our ceremonial-grade matcha from mie offers a smooth, balanced character with light sweetness and subtle floral undertones that brighten the profile. Less intense than kyoto or uji matcha, it presents a mild, approachable taste.
Shizuoka
Umami, seaweed, delicate sweetness aroma ●●●●● intensity ●●●○○ creaminess ●●●●○ bitterness ●○○○○ our ceremonial-grade matcha from shizuoka is made from the prized samidori cultivar, harvested in the first flush. Renowned for its naturally low bitterness, it delivers an exceptionally smooth umami.
Uji
Caramel, roasted nuts, gentle hint of cacao aroma ●●●●● intensity ●●●○○ roast ●●○○○ bitterness ●○○○○ our hojicha comes from uji, kyoto. It's light, smooth, and refreshing. Roasting the leaves turns them a beautiful brown, lowers caffeine and tannins, and brings out that warm, nutty flavor we love.

This is the most honest review I've ever had. The shop is located not far from BART Downtown Berkeley. Upon arriving at the shop front, you'll be greeted by a menu with beautiful artwork. Walking into the shop is very minimalist. The menu I tried was the Coco Matcha Cloud. The flavor is deep and not too sweet. It's definitely good for health-conscious people. Another one I tried was the Custard Cream Brule Crepe. I personally liked it very much. The crepe batter was very delicious. The cream was just the right amount of sweet. Finally, I can say that I will definitely come back to try all the menus.

The matcha drink was delicious. However, maybe because it’s still in the soft-opening stage, the hygiene was really poor. For example, I saw an employee in the background touch their hair with gloved hands and then go straight to making a crepe. Also, I never once saw them wash the bowl used to prepare the matcha drink, and the ice machine door was left open. Since it was an open kitchen, the staff were uncomfortably close to customers, and there was no barrier, which made me worry about droplets or other foreign substances getting into the drinks. But drink was very good!!

I have to say that Pete, the owner of this Matcha Cafe really knows his matcha! Yume Mori brings the traditional taste of Japanese ceremonial grade Matcha to Berkeley! Yume Mori’s cafe from their understated decor to their beautifully crafted and tasty drinks and crepes is reminiscent of a Matcha shop you would see walking on the shotengai in Kamakura. This cafe is worth standing in line for! Thanks for bringing me such a nostalgic experience!

Seriously one of the loveliest iced hojichas I've had!

I got an iced hojicha latte with regular sweetness and oat milk. The regular sweetness is pretty light, which I like, but they also have syrup you can add yourself if you want it sweeter. The hojicha was creamy and smooth, and the staff were super friendly.

The space inside is very lovely - minimalist vibes. Not really a place to sit, except two small benches to wait for your drink. Next time I want to try the tiramisu hojicha, which has marscapone topping, as well as the crepes, which are only available after 1 pm.

The line wasn't too long, but I came on a Monday morning before classes started.

Overall, a welcome addition to the matcha options...
