My best friend and I went into this Biggby today. Usually, everyone is kind and nice. The owner, or manager (pretty sure it is the owner) stared my friend down and myself. We are both minorities. He told her if you do not get something you have to leave. She was just waiting for me to come and trying to decide what she wanted while she sat down. The owner was rude and not a minority. The cashier and barista were lovely. The owner was rude, racist and went outside to smoke in front of the business. I am allergic to smoke. I am glad I was not out there when he was smoking in the front of his establishment. There were other non minorities there that were sitting and had not purchased items and they were not spoken to so rudely. I will never come back here again. It is sad because the other staff members were great, but the owner is a biased person. I will ensure to let others know about this location and the business down the street that has many patrons that enjoy coffee, whom I know the owner of. Stop being biased based on race, age and clothing. My friend and I paid for our drinks and really should never have patronized your establishment. I will involve corporate with this issue and file a formal complaint about the owner. I can see from the other reviews other people have had issues with this place as well. It is 2025 educate yourself and stop being crude, biased, rude and racist, which we are supposed to learn as children. I will never recommend your place again. Thank you to the other workers maybe new ownership is needed to get better reviews and kindness, which I will be recommending to corporate. Biggby's mission does not include...
Read moreI’ve been going to Biggby since it was the original location (Beaners) in East Lansing and have gone out of my way to support the franchise for 18 years. Until 11/26/2018 I would have rated the Berkley Biggby a full 5 stars. I was in this exact location when the power went out during a wind storm, and I went out of my way to try and help the staff. I frequently walk my son and / or dog by this location so I can buy coffee. Having brought a bag of unopened Biggby beans to the location which I forgot to grind, I apologetically asked the woman on staff if she would mind grinding them for me. With a solid eye roll, she quickly refused. Not understanding why, I politely told her that I had beans ground here before...under identical circumstances. Despite the fact that this is a bare minimum worth of effort (pour in beans/press button), it was clearly far too much for this barista to handle. Had she put together a coherent explanation, a few of which may make sense, I would have simply let it go. But in the wake of an eye roll, with another employee watching and clearly not understanding, I’ll never be walking my son and dog here again.
It is my sincere hope that the franchise owner of this location reads this and understands that whomever the female was on staff at 7:15pm on 11/26 just cost this location the business of a lifetime Biggby supporter. If there is any question that’s a true statement, I’ll be happy to present my “Beaners” polo gifted to me by another franchise.
I’ll be happy to walk or drive a block out of my when I need coffee in the future. What a...
Read moreUsually I have only had excellent experiences. I went in recently for one of their signature drinks and they obviously messed my order up and put a bunch of syrups in. When I came back (I was getting a pedicure next door and could not come back immediately) and politely told them my drink was made incorrectly, asked if they would please remake it, and they told me they couldn't take it back and the manager assured me they made it right. I told her I wasn't upset but come here often and know what the drink tastes like and that it's wrong. She seemed dismissive and said they would remake the drink. I asked if it was OK to throw the drink they originally made out because they said they couldn't take it back, and she huffed and said give it to her so it doesn't get the trash wet. In the end I did end up with the drink made correctly but they could have been...
