I really wanted to like this place after visiting this building regularly the last 36 years of my life and quite a few trips to the other green lantern. Always hated how outdated and dark Silas was but the food was always great and was a gathering spot for our birthdays, graduations, baby showers and goodbye parties. Where you could meet up with family and actually talk. First time we have been able to get out here since it was redone and it really looked great inside and out. Parking still sucks when busy. Was greeted and seated quick, staff was super nice and on point. Plenty of employees around to keep the flow going. No Pasta anymore, not a big deal. Get the salad, dressing on the side, eggs and onions not cut up, blocks of salami and ham instead of nicly thin cuts. 4 "breadsticks" on top even though there were 5 of us. Super thin, flavorless and soaked in butter/sauce. Not much flavor at all. Pizza came and it was as good as i remember from the other location although it was barely even cut, it was by far the best part of the meal. Our cheese shaker was empty, asked for more but every single one she grabbed was empty(busy dream cruise weekend). No Desert at all. We took my parents and our 1.5 year old. We couldn't carry out a conversation because of how loud it was in there. On top of the mostly packed single open dining room, music/TVs(not that loud) and high ceilings, this is no longer a family restaurant. It feels more of a bar now that trying to be hip, I don't go out to eat to not be able to hear the company i am in. Cost seemed fairly high for Pizza. Id get carry out again for just the pizza but...
Read moreI had a very uncomfortable experience with takeout at Green Lantern on Saturday, which calls into question their business practices. I placed an order for wings and pizza. Upon getting the order home the wings were not tossed in sauce and none was sent on the side. I immediately called Green Lantern and informed them of the issue. The woman I spoke to offered to remake the wings, provide the sauces, refund my money or let me speak to a manager. I chose to have them remade so they’d be fresh and tossed in sauce. After hanging up the restaurant proceeded to call me back 3 more times. The first two calls were placed by the woman I originally spoke with, she first wanted to let me know the error happened because I selected 3 sauces for the 24 piece wings and they only allow 2 sauces, therefore they had been put on the side but never given at checkout. She again confirmed I wanted the wings remade. She then called back again telling me I could only have two sauces and again confirmed I wanted the wings remade. Finally, the manager Dominic called me again telling me he was fine to remake the wings but I would need to return the original incorrect order. I waited 20 minutes as instructed and returned to pick up the fresh wings with the old wings in hand. The woman I spoke to took the old wings and walked them back to the kitchen. She then returned to tell me my fresh wings weren’t ready and it would be a few minutes. This leads me to believe they took outside food back into the kitchen and the old food was tossed in sauce. This whole situation left me very uncomfortable and uncertain of the food that...
Read moreSome problems, but they tried to make it right in the end update: They called after seeing the review and said they were disappointed to hear this had happened. They credited me back the cost of my order and said they would be sure to tell the staff that this isn’t How to fix issues in the future. It meant a lot that they got in touch with me! I’m visiting Detroit today only and wanted to have Detroit pizza for the first time in 15 years. Placed an order online at 6:20 and was told to pick it up between 650 and seven. Get there at 6:50, it’s not ready, I’m told to wait a couple minutes. 13 minutes later, pizza comes out, which is fine, it’s not terribly late. But then I point out it’s supposed to have pepperoni on the whole thing, not on half. They say they will cook some pepperonis and put them on top of the half where it’s missing. 10 minutes later, pizza comes back and the pepperoni they added is largely burnt and looks really unappetizing. I drove 20 minutes out of my way to come specifically to Green Lantern, to get my pizza 50 minutes after I ordered it in a condition that I don’t really want to eat, but I just couldn’t stay for them to fix it a second time. Maybe when I’m back in Detroit in another 15 years I can try again. Other than burnt pepperoni I couldn’t eat, tasted good, but experience was just really...
