It kills me to write this review, because this used to be my favorite pizza place. I would go every month or so. I have to believe they're under new management, because all of the staff is different. I could go on and on about how fantastic this place used to be, but I'll keep it brief and talk about the last two times I went - a few months ago, and today.
A few months ago: I called in and I thought they must have hired someone new, as the person on the phone could not remember anything I said and asked me to repeat myself many times. I know they understood me because they repeated things back to me each time, but they would forget again immediately. What usually is at most a 2 minute phone conversation took at least 10 minutes. When I picked up the pizza, everything was very burnt and the ratios of ingredients seemed different. I thought that everyone has a bad day once in a while, and maybe there was new staff. I decided to wait a while to try again to make sure everyone had time to be trained, which brings us to...
Today: I decided to skip the phone, and instead ordered online, and all went well with ordering. When I got there, I was worried because the OPEN sign was turned off, but they were open when I walked in. I noted the other reviewer's comment about the lack of gloves, and I can confirm that despite the fact that they were assembling ranch dressing cups, the two gentlemen working there were not wearing gloves. I ordered the roma pesto pizza. The pizza was supposed to have pesto, feta, spinach, and tomatoes. The pizza I received had a tiny dash of marinara, a TON of cheese that was likely mozzarella but certainly not feta, spinach, tomatoes, and a dash of feta on top. There was no pesto whatsoever. It was not a pleasant combination. I suspect the changes to the ingredients were to cut costs. The everything bagel sticks were undercooked and doughy. Another thing I noted, which is not necessarily a bad thing, was that the salad dressing they used to use came in packets. Now they use little plastic cups, which makes me wonder if ingredients were again changed to cut costs. I haven't eaten the salad to see if it's any good because I've lost my appetite after sampling the other items.
Overall, I'm very disappointed to lose an old favorite and will likely never go to this...
Read moreThis place continues to prepare customers' food without gloves or proper food safety PPE. Roughly 1 month ago, my wife walked into the aforementioned establishment and noticed their worker (now we know as "Mo"), that was not using gloves when building a customer's sandwich. The worker was using his bare hands to grab the bread, meat, and toppings to ensemble the meal. Obviously a concern to my wife, she confronted both Mo and the manager (Robby) who apologized at the time and said it would not happen again.
Fast forward to today - the first time we have been back since the last incident - I walk into the Cottage Inn Pizza to pick up an order we placed over the phone. To my surprise, I witness "Mo" grabbing lettuce with no gloves and preparing a customer's salad entrée. I immediately complained and the manager asked Mo to put on gloves. The manager did not seem to take it seriously, though, and did not throw away the customer's food and remake it as they should have. Instead, they packaged it and put it in a bag to be delivered. Once I got home, I called the place of business to file a complaint, at which time the Manager then assured me that they threw away the food before it was given to the customer and had again talked to Mo.
I do not believe they did. And I do not believe they take us seriously or our complaints when we continue to see workers handling food without gloves. Avoid this establishment if you can, I have already contacted the Health Department for them to be...
Read moreOk, I'm from Tennessee and was visiting Michigan for a father and sons vacation. First night we got in town we ordered Domino's. (You get what you pay for with most chains like that anyways.) 5 days later we get back in town from our trip and I wanted pizza again. So I see this place (already has good reviews) and they deliver so I ordered. I got a large deep dish meat lover extra sauce with garlic parmesan crust. Total after delivery and tax $20... Same as any other chain mind you. Get the pizza in less time than stated for delivery and it's not thrown against the cardboard box ( we have all been there before with delivery) so that's a huge plus.. Tipped the driver because yeah he earned it. I bite into the pizza.. It's hot.. It's fresh.. IT FREAKING TASTES BETTER THAN CHAIN PIZZA... And for the same price mind you! So yeah I ate the whole thing minut 3 slices which I had to share with my Dad, brother, and uncle.. But so good... They only got one slice.. So kudos to Cottage Inn Pizza.. I...
