(Last visited 7/21/2021.) I ride past this place ALL the time heading to various places since it's located right on the southbound side of the Berlin Turnpike. Bae said we needed to try this place "someday". Today is that day... here's how it went...
Atmosphere/Appearance: Like I mentioned earlier, this place is set right on the southbound side of the Berlin Turnpike for everyone to see! There's a decent sized private parking lot and round driveway with 2 entrances/exits for convenience. There's also a lovely outdoor section lined with umbrellas to hang out at during the warmer months. The inside offers a bit of an "at sea" or "at the pier" type of vibe with lots of light colors, light woods and white walls. It's fairly straightforward though. I wanted to take my food back to the crib with me so I ordered to go.
Service: Pam took care of me and she was awesome. She was really sweet, answered all of my questions with confidence and just made sure I had a good experience even if it was a short one.
Food: So I got Bae and I 2 Jumbo CT Lobster Rolls with side orders of sweet potato fries. The CT lobster roll is one that's served warm and with melted butter. That's the ONLY way to go! None of that cold mayonnaise lobster salad stuff. (That's called Maine style at this restaurant.) The lobster rolls also come in 2 sizes. Regular and Jumbo. Now I don't know weights, amounts or anything like that, but I can tell you that the sandwiches we had were STUFFED with lobster. The sandwich was so heavy and lobster was just spilling out all over the place whenever I took a bite! It was deliciously warm, juicy, fresh and just incredible. Lobster rolls really are a treat whenever I get to have them. The sweet potato fries were okay, but for what they costed they should've been better or at least come with some sort of dipping sauce to complement them. But... for how much this meal costs. I can't eat there every day.
Value: Alright... ready for this? This is the single most expensive sandwich I've ever purchased. The total for 2 jumbo lobster rolls with sweet potato fries was $90.17 after taxes. Wow. Just, wow. That's fine-dining prices right there. So let's back up a bit. Before taxes it was $84.00. FOR TWO SANDWICHES AND FRIES. Lol. Let's back up some more. Sweet potato fries are an additional $6.00 per sandwich. So subtract $12.00 for that total and now we're down ti $72.00 for 2 freaking lobster rolls. That "MP" on the menu will get you. Lol. So, $36.00 for the juiciest, warmest and pretty damn delicious lobster roll is a bit steep, but... that's why I don't do this everyday. Lol. To each their own.
In conclusion, I kinda went on a bit of a tare there at the end, but the food is worth it. It's just a bit of sticker shock and yes, I knew what I was paying before I placed the order. I just had to try this place and I'd absolutely pay that again! In fact, I plan to, very soon so that I can feature them on The Hungry Road!

Read moreMy little family and I just relocated to Connecticut a few weeks ago from California. My daughter and I love trying new restaurants and The Blue Lobster was one of our first. We walked in and a man in the back looked at us as if we were covered in s*, then turned around and went back to talking, did not acknowledge us whatsoever. However, after about 2 minutes a woman came out and created us with a big smile and told us we can sent anywhere we want. As we walked to our sits some other customers yelled out "welcome, we'd love for you guys to join us". We were brought our drinks and then there was a waitress sent over to take our order, she was so sweet, professional, and fast. They don't offer much as far as food selection, and I would describe the food that they serve as comfort food. Nevertheless, I ordered the lobster roll and fries, and when I say they served me the best lobster I ever had, I'M NOT KIDDING, it was literally the best I've ever tasted, it was cooked to perfection and the fires were AMAZING. My daughter had their chicken strip dinner, which was served with a food that I thought she hated, coleslaw; however, she eat every bit of it and said "I guess I do like coleslaw". My daughter topically leaves a little food on her plate when we go out, but when we went here, she eat every thing on her plate. So why only one stars? The men in the back really left a bad taste in my mouth. He was very rude and dismissive, although the amazing food, amazing staff, and super sweet customers made it an all around great experience. I can't get over the fact that someone would act in that manner to someone walking into their establishment to spend money. It's just mind-boggling when I come across people like that men, it's even more bothersome knowing that the staff know he's an a, which makes him comfortable with treating people in a nasty manner. He made us feel very unwelcomed, only seconds before the lady came out to set us, my daughter asked if we could leave. My advice to the owners is to check your employees, let them know that they need to treat y'all customers accordingly, and if the men I encountered was the owner, you should be ashamed of yourself for not knowing how to treat people. You will only get away with this type of behavior for so long, karma...
Read moreI'll try to keep this short. I will never come here again. I came on a Friday night with my sister; please note that we are people of color, not white. When we first walked in, we could immediately tell it was busy, which was fine. However, we weren't greeted or told where to sit. We noticed the two staff members briefly greet another customer and tell them where to sit. So, my sister and I assumed we should just seat ourselves. We sat down and waited for 30 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. No one told us they would be with us shortly, nothing. We waited for our order to be taken, and not a single word was said to us. What makes this situation even worse is that everyone who came in after us was warmly welcomed, served drinks, and informed that their food would be ready shortly despite the busyness.
I believe the staff's actions were blatantly discriminatory. My money is just as valuable as anyone else's. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to never come here, and I’ll never forget this experience. To this business: I hope you face consequences for your...
