Let me first say that I am happy to support local business owners before the corporate ones.
Upon entry we were immediately greeted and shown to our booth. This is where the "customer service ended", sadly it only lasted 2 minutes.
Our server (not going to name) came to the table promptly with the customary chips and salsa and took our drink order. Server returns 4-5 minutes later and places drinks on table and walks away without a single word to us.
About 10 minutes into our stay a table of 4 is seated nearby. Their server, like ours, delivers the customary chips and salsa and gets drink orders. This is when our server returns and takes our food order.
I order the 3 beef enchiladas and my wife, the #26. About 5 minutes later the table that recently seated near us places their order (this is a table of 4).
About 10 - 15 minutes their food arrives... We have not seen our "server" since placing our order. Another 5 minutes goes by and their server returns to check on the table. Our server is still nowhere to be seen. Their server returns again with refills for the table, this is where we ask to see our "server".
He comes to our table in about 3-5 minutes and we inquire about our order and the response is..."let me check the kitchen". It was at this time we asked for refills.
"Server" returns with refills, says nothing - and leaves. About another 5 minutes pass and the "server" returns with our meals and gives me my wife's and mine to her... My plate was HOT, hot like it just came from the microwave, my wife's is somewhat cooled. We eat, we are hungry... My wife can't finish - "just doesn't taste right (aka "good"). Her plate is pushed to the side - eats more chips & salsa! My, hot but Ok, lacking flavor though.
Sadly, we will not...

If you're considering dining at Maria’s Mexican Restaurant, let me save you the time (and stomachache): don’t. I had the grave misfortune of eating there recently, and it was an experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.
From the moment the plates hit the table, it was clear things were headed downhill fast. The chips were stale enough to have their own expiration date in ancient history, and the salsa was little more than watered-down tomato paste with the occasional sad fleck of cilantro. I would’ve had more flavor chewing on the napkin.
The main dishes somehow managed to lower the already rock-bottom expectations. The enchiladas were soggy, flavorless, and suspiciously lukewarm, like they had been microwaved just long enough to technically qualify as "food." The rice was a mushy, clumpy mess, tasting faintly of cardboard, and the beans had the consistency (and appeal) of canned dog food.
As for the "signature" tacos? A soggy tortilla drowning limp, grayish meat in a puddle of oil doesn't exactly scream "authentic" or even "edible." Honestly, I've had gas station tacos that were culinary masterpieces in comparison.
The service, while not stellar, could have been forgiven if the food had been halfway decent. But when the kitchen serves up disasters like these, no amount of polite smiles or refilled water glasses could salvage the experience.
Maria’s isn’t just a bad restaurant—it’s an insult to Mexican cuisine. Avoid it...
Read moreThe food was great. Some of the best Tex Mex we've had in Ohio. We will absolutely be back for the food. The melon margarita was phenomenal, as was the enchiladas special and al pastor tacos. Truly so glad we visited. The patio was lovely to overlook downtown. This was a total vibe. Don't skip on this spot.
Our service was super slow, though. Make sure you have 1.5-2 hours available. We had reserved a patio table in advance and arrived on time to the minute, so if someone was double sat that wasn't on us. Our server dropped off chips, left for 5 minutes, took drink orders and came back with drinks to take food orders. Did not see him again until the food came out. I would have loved another marg and a refill on the chips and salsa, but that wasn't an option. We did not see him again until our plates were clean, drinks empty, and card had been sitting on the table for several minutes. I don't know if this was a staffing issue or what, but other tables with different servers were getting regular service. No drink refills, chip refills, or space for us to spend more money at the restaurant. Had we had better service, I would have had 1-2 more drinks, added a side of beans, and added on a dessert. The food was that good. At one point we wondered if we were supposed to pay at the front when we waited so long...
