Gave this place a second chance because the first time eating there we went in late so I figured that was the reason the food was bad. So I went this time with friends visiting me from out of town they requested to go because they had heard good things about this place. I told them of my previous experience, but they insisted, so we went. This time we arrived early in the day. The food on the buffet table looked old and dry. We asked if we could order from the menu we were told we could. So we did. Now I thought if you order from a menú in most places your food is made fresh, however at Mofongo Café that was not the case. I watched the young lady fix a meal I ordered from the menú using the old dried up food from the buffet table, as she did with 3 other orders from my table, and the food was indeed dry, bland and lacked the authentic Puerto Rican flavor you would expect. The only thing prepared fresh was the Mofongo that 2 of my visiting friends had ordered but yet again it lacked in flavor. The white rice with beans was made with pork and beans which is unusual for our culture with this dish it is usually made with kidney beans but like the rest of the meal it lacked flavor. For the price they charge for a meal, they really need to give more attention to serving quality food. There were 6 in my party, all but one stated their food lacked flavor and tasted old, all of us are of Puerto Rican and Dominican decent and are well versed in our cultural dishes. Now that this was my second experience with this establishment I would not recommend it to anyone going forward. Save your money and go else where. If the only thing you are wanting is Mofongo then it will be hit or miss with this place in terms of flavor but it will be fresh Mofongo, but if thats the only thing they are going to serve fresh or monitor the quality of then perhaps thats all they need to serve. However if you are looking for good authentic quality food there is a great place in Clarksville called Tropicana, they are Dominican and the food is top notch, a great environment, great service and reasonably priced. They have been in business for well over 15 years and their reputation is unsurpassed. Thats were I took my friends to redeem myself lol. And they lovedbit. Mofongo Cafe has the potential to be a great place but they have got to improve on quality,...
Read moreFood is great! But the customer service was awful, there was one girl who rushed us while trying to order, I’ve only been there once before and brought my boyfriend for the first time, a young lady was helping me and I couldn’t hear her through the shield and mask but she was nice enough to repeat herself, in that moment the other girl seemed impatient and just gave us a menu, she was very rude and told us to just head to the cashier since we were ordering from the menu (she never even tried explaining ordering off the menu). We sat down and when she came back to the table without speaking clearly about our order, I was confused again since our order wasn’t out yet but she was asking about what rice we wanted, as I asked a question, the place was full and she got impatient again, was very rude in repeating what she asked without explaining it any different…. we were almost done with our food and we never got our drinks, I had to go ask the young lady if I could just grab it myself which she did. I understand the place is busy and clearly understaffed but rushing a customer when we’ve only been there once is rude, arguing with the customer over a mistake you made by not asking clear questions is rude. Just sad because the food was great, but the customer service was awful. I...
Read moreHaving spotted Mofongo Cafe on the map, my curiosity finally led me to visit today. Originally aiming for a familiar spot, we encountered heavy traffic and decided to take a chance on this place - a decision that brought us delightful surprises. Undoubtedly, Mofongo Cafe boasts the best beans I've tasted in Nashville; their flavor was truly exceptional. Surprisingly, their short ribs surpassed the fame of many renowned BBQ joints in the city.
Opting for the plate option, I eagerly received my order at the front counter - a combination of rice and succulent pork ribs. My partner, however, chose the shrimp mofongo with red sauce and a chorizo empanada, which led to a slightly awkward situation where I received my food 15 minutes earlier than her.
The empanada had a crispy exterior but the chorizo inside leaned toward the saltier side. The mofongo, on the other hand, was a standout, surpassing my previous experiences and filling me up satisfyingly. Despite the minor hiccups in timing and temperature, the overall experience was impressive. I'm inclined to return for another visit, given the remarkable flavors and dishes at...
