So excited about this new restaurant opening next to the iconic Fitzgerald's. I came to order food to go as the patio was already full, not surprised due to the fact that Fitzgeralds was popping like always. I was surprised they did have a dining room and decided to dine in. With so many fabulous options it was hard to narrow down what to get. We ended up getting the club club sandwich (turkey blt), the giant chicken wings, onion rings, pimento mac and cheese, & ice cream for dessert. Starting with the sandwich this is no simple club sandwich. With thick slices of turkey breast, pork belly, lettuce and tomato (ask for the bacon aioli for extra yumminess) my teenage son that eats everything could only get through half of this sandwich, it looks deceiving. Served with perfectly crispy shoestring seasoned fries this was a great treat. The chicken wings (that have to be turkey wings bc they are huge & you can't change my mind) were perfectly juicy and had this fabulous crunch that was really how all wings should be. The onion rings were some of the best I've had in the city, possibly sprinkled with witchcraft and/or crack we devoured them all. The ice cream was exactly what I remember from an old school ice cream shop, not overly sweet, with a very creamy velvety texture. Now the cons - the Mac and cheese just didn't do it for me, it felt very dry and grainy and didn't have a very cheesy taste for me. I'll still try it again bc everything was so good I refuse to believe the mac couldn't be up there either. While the staff were really friendly and great it definitely felt like they forgot about us in the dining room. Nothing so bad that I would remove a star but more something that will be fixed once they get their bearings. I'm looking forward to eating my way through the menu and I hope that everybody goes and shows this much needed addition to the...
Read moreWhen I first saw the pictures of this place I was like. It’s about time we get a good BBQ restaurant around here cuz that’s a niche that sorely lacking in this area. We walked in with my wife, 10 yo girl and 1 yo nephew they greeted us right away. They asked if we had a reservation? We said no. She said you should next time. She looked around and lucky for us a table was getting cleared just as we walked in. So the lady sat us down. So if you plan on visiting, CALL AHEAD AND MAKE A RESERVATION. It’s a quiet and clean and cozy. After about 10 min with a menu in hand we gave our order. Although staff was super nice and attentive the food took 25 min to come to table. My wife’s food( pulled pork, BBQ beans & Mac ) was cold. Mine(brisket and greens, and mac). My brisket was lukewarm and just ever so slightly dry. I like the beans and the greens were good but different. Usually I’m a glutton when it comes to greens but these were very very tangy. Almost sour. Do they use vinegar? Too much? IDK but I like it with my food. When my 4 slices of brisket were eaten, the greens were way too strong for me to eat by itself. I choked the last fork of greens down cuz I paid for them, after all. My wife didn’t finish her food. She packed it up and said I’ll eat it at home cuz it’s cold. We had cornbread as an appetizer but it was small for price. Like a 2”X2” square for over $10?! It’s the kind of cornbread I really don’t like. Crumbly and grainy/dry. I like it soft and chewy. Yeah I’m a jiffy mix kind of guy. Kid food doesn’t count cuz my girl is a picky eater. All in all, mixed feelings and definitely underwhelmed on my first visit. The ladies were super nice but I feel they fumbled the ball on delivering the food soon and hot. Who wants cold food? Let...
Read moreThis bbq typically opens after 5pm we came on a sunday and the inside dinning area was closed, im not sure if they are in connection with the place fitzgeralds is next door, it was odd that we had to sit outside with the loud music but thats ok we just wanted to eat, music was great though.
Lets start with what we liked, the thick strip of pork belly was really good 5/5 had a real nice smokey flavor, ask for the bbq sauce on the side and not on the pork belly. The ribs we're delish the half slab had a really nice bark / seasoning on it also meaty 5/5. We also ordered 2 orders of Brisket was perfectly cooked not dry 5/5. We also tried out the wings we give that 3/5 we thought the wings were underseasoned and flavors where lacking, the special sauce was mild and OKAY. For the sides we ordered mac n cheese 3/5 it was room temp not hot. Loaded potatoe salad 3/5 needs some more seasoning. Corn bread was missing flavor didnt taste that great 2/5. Finally when we ordered waffle fries we received regualr fries and i told them that i wanted waffle fries and that they could have metioned they we're out. Honestly,I do think that the staff is doing alot and cannot give 100 percent attention to the food consumers, staff is nice but looked rushed, making me feel rushed because of the atmosphere. Sepnt $155 dollars tip included with 2 cokes. Very pricey and you can probally get away paying for bbq elsewhere, but there will be always a different places to try out. Please tip...
