I USED to love this place... I moved away (Kansas City) so on my last visit back ZACATCOS was my first stop but after that visit I will say that will be my last stop. My pick up order was wrong (which was always the case before anyway) but for whatever reason because I had my godson I called to see about some sort of "fix" and the señora that answered the phone was really rude. After speaking with the manager I was told that I could come back and pick up a portion of my order (the way I originally asked for it) for free. I go back and the same woman refused to honor what the manager already agreed to. When the manager spoke to her - she still refused - in fact she made two calls just to verify that she should follow his instructions. Once she was finally told to do what she was initially asked I had to wait. She even had the nerve to ask me to go back home to pick up the tacos I didn't want. She said they cost money and I told her I know - I already paid for them NOT to be the way I ordered them. When the food was finally brought out to me - she told me that NEXT time I needed to bring back the original order. YES - their prices went up so my response to her was maybe NEXT time she get my order correct the first time and none of this would have to happen.
This locations used to be my favorite but homegirl behind the counter has to go - attitude is WACK and my GAWD! All she had to do was listen to...
Read moreThis place recently won some sort of "best burrito in Berwyn" contest.
Good for them.
I picked up a burrito from them today, just to see what all the hype was about.
I was seriously underwhelmed by this burrito.
Except for their including sour cream, for which many places charge extra, this $7.00 burrito could have been made at any of the dozens of burrito joints in the Berwyn area.
I think they made up for the "extra cost" of the sour cream by skimping on the tomatoes.
In short, it was a burrito. No more, no less. Just a damn burrito.
OTOH, unlike many of the other family-run taco joints around here, this place is relatively new, and damned clean. They have dining areas in both the front and back of the establishment. It is so squeaky clean that it reminded me of a Wendys or somesuch. Not the type of environment I am used to in a Mexican joint.
But this meant little to me, since I was ordering to go.
I asked for a paper menu to show to a friend, and the spaced-out teenager at the register looked at me as if I had asked her who won the World Cup in 1690.
"No," was all she said.
You would think that the owner of a place that had just won the BEST BURRITO IN BERWYN would have immediately gone out to a printer.
I give this place a 3/5, mostly for effort. Definitely not for the food. I will not...

I’ve given Zacatacos multiple chances, but after today, I won’t be coming back. I ordered a steak burrito with cheese, beans, cream, cilantro, onion, and avocado. What I got felt more like a vegan burrito—loaded with everything except steak! I paid for a steak burrito, not a bean-and-cheese wrap, so where was the meat?
On top of that, this is the third time I’ve had issues with their takeout orders. Every time, I ask for two separate orders in separate bags because they’re for different people. The cashier even writes it down, yet the kitchen never follows the instructions. They rush through making orders, but what’s the point of speed if the order is wrong? I’d rather wait a little longer and get my food made correctly than deal with this frustration every time.
After looking at other customer reviews, it’s clear that whoever owns this place doesn’t care about feedback—there’s not a single response from the owner to any of the reviews. That says a lot about how much they value their customers.
Zacatacos seriously needs to slow down and pay attention to what customers actually order. Until then, I’m taking my...
