The reviews on this restaurant have been hit-or-miss. Therefore, I wanted to try it myself. My initial reaction was that it was very small. I'm not sure what I was expecting from a previous gas station. Maybe a better design? Placing tables directly in front of the door and getting a gust of wind every time the door would open would not be ideal to me. We decided to sit at the table closest to the garage door. Another bad idea. The sun was beaming in our eyes the entire time. Window tint would be a good investment. We ordered our food, got our drinks (self serve) and sat down. The drink area needed to be restocked with lids and other items. It also needed attention as it was rather messy. As we waited a solid 20 minutes for our food, we did what anyone else would have done - people watched and observed. There were several customers that stopped in to pick up their to go orders. Is there an app for this restaurant as their phone didn't ring once. I started searching for their ServSafe certificates and eventually found them on the wall behind an open shelf that held supplies. An employee's child/grandchild was sitting at a table next to us while the employee worked her shift. I know times are tough, but seating was limited. Therefore, taking up space for paying customers. The child was very well behaved while we were there. Kudos to whomever is raising her. I noticed their prices were quite high while taking in the menu while I basked in the sun. A milkshake was well over 8.00. There was a customer waiting for approximately 20 mins just for his shake. I can only assume it was worth the wait (and the price). The restaurant itself needed to be straightened up and cleaned periodically during business hours. I'm sure they're short staffed like everyone else. On to the food....the turkey burger seemed to be a frozen BB brand patty. I was told it was "ok," and this person was not feeling too swift afterward. Another person enjoyed a burger and it "wasn't bad". I was told he wasn't feeling 100% after eating either. I had your typical burger and thought it was decent. No side effects for me! Overall, I wouldn't return anytime soon. Hopefully, they grow and become better as time goes on. I always suggest trying an establishment for yourself and forming your...
Read moreWe stopped in at around 9:40 PM, they close at 10. We ALWAYS avoid going anywhere that close to closing time out of respect, but we’d been wanting to try this place for a while and this was the only window we had. I even apologized to the woman taking our order and told her we’d take everything to go so we didn’t hold anyone up. She was super kind and reassured us we had time — food only takes about 5 minutes, she said.
While we waited, though, we could clearly hear the cook venting. We couldn’t catch every word, but it was along the lines of, “this is ridiculous,” and something about “hating when people come in 15 minutes before close.” At one point, we heard him say to the cashier, “you’re too nice.” The tone and comments made it really uncomfortable — to the point that we almost walked out and just let them keep the money. It felt awkward and honestly kind of disrespectful.
We ended up taking the food to a different parking lot and eating in the car. I’m not letting the cook’s attitude impact my star rating too heavily — it seems like a small, possibly family-run place, and I don’t want to judge the entire business off one bad interaction. That said, his behavior did affect our experience and definitely made us hesitant to return.
Now for the food: • The chocolate dream milkshake was incredible — thick, flavorful, and one of the highlights. • The fries were the best item overall — crispy, hot, and perfectly seasoned. • The pretzel bites were unfortunately burnt, so we didn’t get to enjoy them, but the beer cheese was tasty. • The “Dahn Town Melt” and “Pitts-Burgher” sandwiches were juicy but lacked flavor. Not bad, but not super memorable either. • Loved the Turner’s tea as a nice local touch.
All in all, we wish we had been able to try this place earlier in the day when things might’ve been more enjoyable. Hopefully the cook was just having a rough night — we all have them — but his attitude definitely put a damper on our...
Read moreI am a Cheeseburger 🍔 aficionado and have eaten more cheeseburgers than my arteries or colon would have liked. I had high hopes because it's a small business. I walked into the place, parking lot was newly paved. The place seems to be very clean. I wasn't greeted, nobody said hello, nobody said welcome to Pitts-Burgers. All the things you get at the larger establishments like Five Guys. So I said to the young man working there, "Pick up order for Garry". Not a thank you for coming in not have a nice day, actually not a single word was spoken by the employee. I took it out to my car as I always bring my own soft drink Pitts-Burgers charges $4.40 for a bottle of Diet Coke It cost me less than $0.80. I took the carton out of the paper bag and was immediately greeted by onions on the cheeseburger, I only ordered lettuce and tomato on the side. The bun was cold. I decided to take it home to eat because there was no ketchup on it and bun was cool. I had to microwave it for a few seconds to get it up the temperature. When I took my first bite it was a crunchy burger. So overall the hamburger certainly one of the worst hamburgers I've ever eaten. I don't see how they could stay in business if this were typical rather than an anomaly. I believe the single cheeseburger even cost more than Five Guys which is laughable because Five Guys is exponentially better. I didn't try the fries or anything else so I have no opinion. At this point I'm going to give the cheeseburger on a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 1. The service, Well he did hand me the bag but there was zero communication no smiles no nothing So I'll give that a 2. The atmosphere well it seemed like a clean place but not friendly It's not a five guys it's not a Chick-fil-A. And that's usually because the smaller places don't have systems in place that they teach the employees how to conduct business. Not sure that I'd ever go back because I don't like crunchy ground meat. ...
