We lunched around 1pm on a Friday. The restaurant was quiet with 2 tables of 2 occupied. It was our first time. We live in the area, love vietnamese food and were attracted by the good reviews. We were greeted at the counter to place our order. Had a little trouble understanding the lady taking our order but eventually made it. We were 2 and ordered fried spring rolls, shrimp fresh spring rolls, a small shrimp pho with regular broth, curry chicken and 2 hot teas. We sat down. After 10 minutes, the pho and curry arrived at our table. The fresh rolls arrived 5 minutes later, the fried rolls 15 minutes later and the teas (2 tea bag in 2 hot water paper cups) 20 minutes later. Appetizers coming well after the main courses made no sense. The teas, even less, even after we asked for them again and were told they would soon (!!) come. After all, just a tea bag in a cup of hot water. Both teas were burning hot and undrinkable. So much for ordering simple beverages. The fresh rolls were generous, shrimps good, but had no flavor and filled largely with romaine lettuce. The fried rolls were ok, burning hot and the sauce had no flavor. The pho had no flavor. The curry had no flavor, the grilled chicken was good, the curry was covered by what looked like a heavily thickened sauce, not natural, not coconut, not lemon grass. Small carrots in the curry were falling apart, way overcooked, had been in there for a long time. All in all, we didn't finish any of the dishes and were very disappointed. We felt the staff had no interest in serving the dishes in the right order. We paid over $50 including a 15% tip but will not return. We were looking forward to a new experience but we will go back to other vietnamese and south east asian restaurants in the area which serve tasty food and provide good service with dishes served in the right order. We saw the owner on the way out who was busy talking to someone. We didn't bother waiting to speak with her. We felt there was too much lacking to expect a proper fix. We are not complicated customers. We eat out regularly and enjoy simple and also better places. Unfortunately, Sprouts today did not work out for...
Read moreWell this is quite the little hidden gem that has fantastic Vietnamese food at very affordable prices. If you're a vegatarian or vegan you'll love this place, but meat eaters should take pleasure in some amazing dishes like pork banh-mi or grilled beef spring roles.
If you're unfamiliar with banh-mi then you dont know what you're missing! As a street food sandwhich in Vietnam it is built on French bread with meats, pickled vegatables and homemade sauces...its an amazing variety of flavors that excite the tongue. And did I mention you can't get it anywhere else around here?
Sprouts is counter order, brought to your booth style service but with a bit more class in offering real silverware and very nice chopsticks. Seating is comfortable with 8 or 10 booths and some seating outside, although a fair amount of business seems to be takeout.
Check out the menu and pick something you've never had- you'll love it and you'll...
Read moreA coworker put me on to this place 8 years ago. I moved away from this area for a while and recently moved back. And I am so happy they are still in business! THE BEST tofu Bahn Mi I have ever had, hands down! I’m not sure how they cook their tofu but it is flavorful and slightly crunchy on the outside. I’ve also had their fresh spring rolls with tofu, they are huge rolls with delicious peanut sauce for dipping. Their vegan pho is delightful, perfect amount of seasonings and toppings. Love their veggie curry too, light but incredibly filling. Their salad and cold noodle dishes are amazing, too. DON’T SLEEP on their sesame balls for dessert! If I could eat these every day with no concern I would. Overall, very generous portions for a great price. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Cute dining area, too. Make sure to give them a try. Thank...
