Heard great things, and I don't really doubt it isn't good. Tried it tonight after driving by for so long. Atmosphere was nice, decorated well. We got three burgers and one craft beer. I think it was a bit overpriced, I mean all of that came to about $75. I figured bacon, avocado and onions were probably extra, but cheese too? On a burger? It was nearly $10 in toppings that, and on other burgers, it came with that. Roughly a $25 burger vs. $17 with similar toppings. They forgot my tomatoes and my dad's lettuce which were supposed to come with the burgers and we didn't ask for them to be taken off. We also ordered wings but they didn't get put it on the ticket so we didn't want to wait for them while our food got cold. It wasn't bad (I mean, the fries were delicious). It tasted pretty good but I wouldn't want to go back for these prices. $8 beer was kind of crazy.
It's a little frustrating seeing the responses from who I'm assuming is the owner, on these lower ratings. Very unprofessional to respond this way to customers. 2 years ago the responses were "thank you for your feedback and patience," and in the last few months of reviews I've read a complete lack of responsibility and ownership for when customers are just trying to be honest about their experience, and instead are getting belittled.
When someone takes my order and triple checks with me that it's correct, I wish it would've come out correct without any missing condiments and food.
I don't think the food is bad, it could've just been the server and an off day, but sometimes these things can make it hard to want...
Read moreI wouldn't say I'm a weekly regular at Notch by any means, but it is my preferred bar of choice in the Danbury/Bethel area and I'd argue that it's THE bar of choice when comparing it to the others. I've been coming to Notch ever since they opened and can easily say it's eons better than the prior two restaurants that used to be in this location. Want proof? Sure.
The pizza is always great. Not interested in any of the premade ones on the list? No problem, they've accomodated us on multiple occasions to add/remove ingredients without an issue.
The bars (inside and patio when it's warmer out) are always stocked with the best local craft beers, domestic stuff, and liquor so everyone can enjoy. Not a drinker? The mocktails are also phenomenal.
The service has always been top Notch (huehuehue), whether it's table service or the bar staff. Shout out to Sean/Shawn (or however he spells it, sorry!) for holding down the bar, he's always killed it when we're there.
They do live music on the weekends and all of the bands we've seen/watched were incredibly talented and always put on an awesome show. I believe they do weekly events too, but I'm not usually there at those times.
All in all, I love Notch and it always feels like home when I end up there. See you guys soon.
P.S. The disclaimer posted around the patio bar in regards to people complaining about the weather, bugs, the sun, etc. always cracks me up. People will always find a way to...
Read moreWe came for a birthday party. We had a bit of a larger party, but the restaurant was fairly empty outside of our party. It was afternoon, so not a super busy time. Our food came out piece by piece, and we didn’t get everyone’s meals for at least 30 minutes after the first item got set down on the table. My daughter had ordered a sandwich and it came at least 20 minutes after everyone else’s food. They forgot to fire it. They also forgot to put the ticket in for the table behind us, who wasn’t part of our party but also seemed frustrated. They kept forgetting to bring out dressing that the other side of the table asked for. Wood roasted vegetables tasted fried and were inedible, we never got waters, refills, or extra napkins that we asked for - and the kicker was the mandatory 20% tip added to our bill that we couldn’t even dispute because we couldn’t find anyone. It was just a mess. I understand things happen, as a former server and someone in the service industry, but there was zero sense of urgency or explanation (hey, kitchens backed up! Sorry! or ANYTHING besides disappearing or ignoring a customer can go a long way!) so I assume it’s always like this and nobody genuinely seemed to care. I am so glad I was just visiting for this event and didn’t choose it myself. I would be so embarrassed. $75 for a pizza, sandwich, and Brussels sprouts is insane but add poor service to it and it’s even...
