Stony Hill Diner — Restaurant in Bethel

I usually came here with my grandfather quite a bit and was never disappointed. however I was there dec 26 2017 with my sister and boyfriend and was let down. the waitress was rude and had a fake happy attitude that was blatantly obvious. she acted as if we were bothering her and she was rushing us to make decisions. when she brought our drinks, I found a dead gnat in mine and I asked for another cup. she didn’t even offer a free refill on my tea, so she gave us a new cup of just ice when I had a near empty bottle of tea left. we looked in the new cup and there was another gnat frozen in an ice cube. I gave up with my drink at that point. I can’t imagine how many bugs there are in the rest of the ice cubes in the back. we took a while to decide what food we wanted because there’s just tons of things on that menu. the waitress came back every 30 seconds it seemed to ask what we wanted, and we felt rushed. we just hurried to make a decision because we were apparently wasting her time. the food was mediocre, my burger buns were soggy and hard to eat. as we were finishing our food, the waitress came back in casual attire (not in uniform) and gave us the receipt. we were just confused and annoyed so we just left as soon as possible. left the waitress a $3 tip as if she even deserved that. my boyfriend and I felt sick a short time after we ate there, so we suspect it is because of the food. I don’t think I’ll be spending my money...

Love the diner and the managers are nice but wait staff can be quite moody, I know it's a tough job but I just want to eat good food in a nice friendly environment if your job is hard please don't take it out on us kind patrons. One thing in particular that rubbed me the wrong way, I took my 8 month old daughter there to get her first scoop of ice cream, knowing she wouldn't eat much I just asked for 1 scoop of vanilla, ok the waitress said and she went off, another waitress came to check on us, I repeated my order, she gave us 3 scoops instead, then proceeded to yell for whatever waitress was helping us to add this ice cream to the bill, with more determination than a Navy seal in training to make sure we got billed for this ice cream, I'm thinking internally I planned on paying for the ice cream what's it a dollar? Maybe 2 dollars? She continued stopping and asking every waitress until she found mine and made sure they did their due diligence in adding this to my bill (I also ordered $25 of food to go). When I got the bill there it was $3.75 for a scoop of ice cream. If $3.75 is so important profits must be tight. I went to another diner when she turned 1 and they just gave her free ice cream, that's community relations and repeat...

Good evening Google Family. I decided to take out tonight. I am exhausted and just wanted to eat in my room. I found this place on Google. It isn't far from the Best Western. I wanted to go someplace that was walking distance even though I did not walk. I love diners and I am so happy that I decided to come here. They do have take out after I asked. I was given the appetizer menu as well as the regular menu. I decided on the broiled mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat. I absolutely love mushrooms!!! I wanted something not heavy, since I have been eating well these three days and eating more than I normally eat at home. I have certainly splurged on my eating. That is definitely going to change, since I am heading home tomorrow. Boo Hoo!! I am enjoying myself and don't wish to leave. Reality sets in tomorrow. My server was congenial and I gave her a nice, $5.00 tip. The other young lady gave me water while I waited and I thought that was super nice!! I enjoyed my food and ate it in the room. They had a giant watermelon on display for people to see. I saw people here that are also staying at the Best Western. A Good experience here tonight. I hope to return again in the future.
