I decided to take a gamble and try Ceremony instead of Starbucks right across the street. I ordered for three people including my self , I got two mochas , and an americano.
Service was meh , Baristas seemed like they just wanted to clear the line( of like 2 people ) instead of engaging like most Cafés , starbucks already won on that end unfortunately . I like to try to give boutique/smaller cafés a shot but this one underperformed.
I liked they had Fresh roasted coffee , the bags on the shelves were a week to two weeks off roast date which is great , maybe I will come back to try it.
Now , how was the coffee? I hate to say it but starbucks won at that too , their mochas reminded me of the taste of generic grocery store chocolate sauce , and didn’t of taste of quality chocolate.
My partner said the same thing about their Mocha , and the coffee taste was covered up from the chocolate and too sweet for both of us.
The Americano I got for my friend he told me was not great , and he woulda preferred if I got it from Starbucks as they put the sugars in for him and oat milk , when I asked Ceremony they said to grab it , and they gave me like a splash of oat milk on the side for my friend in a small cup , and the sugars were out on a shelf so my friend had to craft his own drink , not really a problem for me but I can see how Starbucks wins on the hospitality part for their customers.
Their Almond croissant was good!
Will I go again? Maybe to try their Latte or Fresh roasted coffee bags , the mocha coulda been...
Read moreCaveat: I am a ceremony coffee nut. I buy their coffee for my machine; I purposely seek out cafes that stock them; and I recommend them to my friends. Safe to say I was expecting big things from the Bethesda shop, and man did it disappoint. Where to start - weird layout, the front part is a bit scruffy. It was full of high school kids eating dunkin doughnuts. The inside has tiny tables jammed beside the door, so overall not very inviting. Next the food. Why bother with food if you're going to serve microwaved bagels?! The egg looked like a movie prop. And toasted cheese sandwiches I could make at home hungover. The coffee was good, although why serve it in a glass? Maybe that's me being neurotic but coffee cups do a fine job of holding coffee. Honestly I can think of ten better places to drink ceremony coffee- that's a terrible shame for a flagship store in DC. So disappointing. Management: If you want some ideas you should take a look at Single Estate Coffee Roasters in The Netherlands. They produce an amazing experience from coffee to style to food. It pains me to be so negative about coffee I love, but i...
Read moreLovely cafe with plenty of seating, friendly service, and outstanding drinks. I visited Ceremony on a Saturday morning to get a bit of reading done before meeting a friend in Bethesda, and I was thoroughly impressed. The vibes were perfect for working, reading, or chatting -- it was pretty quiet and there was a ton of natural light streaming in from their giant, floor-to-ceiling windows. There's a good amount of seating available, although most of it is on barstools / tall chairs at their window counter or a long, high top in the center of the cafe. There are a few standard tables and booths on the side, but they tend to be quite popular and hard to snag; if you're willing to sit halfway outside, Ceremony also has a lovely patio-esque space filled with tables and plenty of greenery.
The drinks are just as delightful as the space. I didn't get a chance to sample their beans, but I loved my matcha latte. It had a great, earthy flavor from the matcha, and they had plenty of non-dairy...
