We’ve visited many times and participated in their after-school classes, summer camps, and workshops. The activities are always fun, and the educators are incredibly kind and encouraging with the kids. We’ll definitely keep coming back!
As for the museum itself, it’s workshop type—entirely focused on hands-on experiences. There are five interactive stations at the front (connect-the-circuit, beat-making, patten creating, gravity maze, and a light experiment—my least favorite), along with several more creative stations in the back, such as 3D pens, 3D printing, paper cutting projects, and multi-material collage.
The space—especially the large building area—could be used much more efficiently. I hope they expand the number of stations and rotate them more often to keep things fresh.
They also have separate studio rooms dedicated to specific materials (cardboard, circuits, textiles, woodworking, etc.). You can drop in to try your own ideas or attend Sunday workshops. Additional amenities include restrooms, a birthday party room, and a resting area near the entrance (it would be nice if they offered light snacks).
Overall, this has been a fantastic place for learning and creativity. With its strong programs already in place, a few design improvements and expanded offerings could easily make it one of the top hands-on STEM museums in...
Read moreWOW!! Not only is the venue very cool, but the event staff and facilities manager are the best in the business. I used to work for The Ritz-Carlton brand and understand luxury hospitality. Jurrel and Lydia are the epitome of hospitality and kindness. Their patience is unmatched. We hosted the Best of Bethesda event which required various needs from multiple vendors and constant questions. No challenge was too large for the KID Museum events team.
We couldn’t have asked for a better partner than KID Museum to host our Best of Bethesda party. From the earliest planning stages through the final moments of the event, their team went above and beyond to ensure every detail was seamless. Coordinating more than 15 food and drink partners—each with unique needs—is no easy task, but the KID Museum staff handled it all with professionalism, flexibility and a smile.
Their commitment to excellence, responsiveness, and creative problem-solving made what could have been a logistical headache feel smooth and stress-free. We are beyond grateful for their partnership and would recommend them enthusiastically to anyone planning a complex, high-profile event.
Our guests loved the space and how it transformed into an elevated and...
Read moreI believe the high school volunteers need more training. They do not know how to interact with the children. I didn’t see many KID museum staff members interacting with the children. There also wasn’t enough teaching in the rooms. The high schoolers were just talking and not actually teaching the children. I probably wouldn’t come back just based off of that. I know it was on a Sunday and it’s probably different during the week but I was considering getting a membership for my two children but I’m not anymore. There was also a lot of children just running around unsupervised. My youngest (4 year old) couldn’t enjoy the mini maker area because the older children kept throwing the cube blocks and the volunteers weren’t doing anything about it. I live in Richmond, VA and I drove two hours for this. It was unfortunately a waste of money. My 11 year old said he had a good time so that’s the only reason why I gave this...
