This is one of those really really bad reviews.
I ordered online to pick-up two drinks and a burrito on my way to work as an entrepreneur. Walked in at exactly the estimated time for the order. The friendly cashier lmk she hadn't seen the order and that it wasn't ready and I told her I'll be waiting in the car. I waited another 20mins. When I walked back in, I was told by another staff member that it still wasn't ready. So I asked him if the drinks would be packed in the bag or should I grab them from the fridge? He said you can grab them, "that's what you would do anyway." He walked over and showed me exactly where they were because there were two different refrigerators. I said thanks, grabbed my two drinks and headed for the door to put them in my car. Within 10 seconds, I hear someone yelling at me and I turned to see an angry older lady upset, barreling towards me, and accusing me of stealing juice. Juice. This was the owner you guys..."KATALINA" herself raced past her employees to accuse me of stealing juice. "You didn't pay for those, I didn't see you pay for those."
But if she seen me interact with any of her employees at all, she probably wouldn't have felt so sure that I was stealing so I was absolutely appalled that this was happening to me as an actual paid customer who MADE A POINT TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE STAFF. She blamed her employee and said "it wasn't their policy and he shouldn't have done that," but that didn't make sense to me because the juice is out and if you truly have trust issues with juice being stolen... don't have them out??? While I was being accosted, the other employee brought over my finally finished food. And in realizing her mistake "Katalina" attempted to comp my meal but it was too horrific of an interaction where the damage was done. She aplogized but continued to blame me for whatever she could make up and her perception of me??? All of this happening in the middle of this busy little restaurant was embarrassing and humiliating to say the least. I just badly wanted to leave and I stated that I'd never come back here again...she walked away saying we both could've handled this differently??? I walked away thinking she desperately needs anti-bias training... how are you running "businesses" crashing out on your customers like this???
As a woman business owner myself, I honestly couldn't imagine doing any of the things she did.
To put the icing on the cake, the food was not good (unlike the previous time). The breakfast potatoes were not cooked all the way through, which if you know anything about potatoes that pretty much made the burrito inedible. But the juice, the juice I was accused of stealing was delicious. So enter here at your own risk, because wow. You might...
Read moreMy husband, toddler, and myself visited Katalinas for a Valentines brunch. We were very disappointed for our food to the point we threw most of our $64 dollar order away. We ordered 2 fresh orange juices (good), a horchata coffee (not great), latkes, pancake balls, and a chicken sandwich.
I am a big fan of latkes and was incredible surprised to see what was being served here. This was the first time I have ever been so disappointed by any meal. They tasted microwaved. Soggy, spongey, bland with a slight onion flavor. It killed my appetite. I took two bites and almost gagged. My husband tried a bite and he’s the least picky person I know and struggled to even finish his bite. As someone who even loves odd textures and veggie alternatives I couldn’t stomach these.
My husbands chicken sandwich was bland and had soggy bread. His potato hash was undercooked and physically crunchy. I wanted to eat his side of hash because my latkes were disappointing and I couldn’t even eat those.
The pancake balls were decent but honestly they were boring and felt like cheap fair food. The thick cut bacon was floppy, fatty, and not crispy. My toddler who loves breakfast barely choked down some of the bacon and a few bites of the pancakes.
This establishment prides itself on using the best quality ingredients which “justifies” the extortionate costs. After tasting everything I can’t really pinpoint what was quality. If I can go to something like Kitchen Social and get seasoned, fresh, quality food for less than what this dinner offered we know that there’s a disconnect. After a $60 valentine brunch we are going home to cook instead of relax. I do want to note the staff was nice and friendly so they are not a reflection of...
Read moreKatalina's has been one of my favorite restaurants for awhile now for breakfast. I finally got to go to their third location. It is strongly encouraged to order your food prior to grabbing a seat.
We arrived at noon on a Sunday morning and parking was totally fine due to the place next door being closed. I think it could get hard to park. I always get my favorite of their Award-Winning Breakfast Tacos. Three local Koki's white corn tortillas filled with North Market Spices-infused housemade chorizo, scrambled cage-free eggs, housemade tomatillo sauce, avocado, queso fresco, organic cilantro, local Snowville crema & fresh pico de gallo. Served with Elote Mexican Street Corn.
You should definitely get their Original Pancake Balls for the table. The Nutella ones are AMAZING! You can choose your fillings of Nutella, Dulce de leche, or Katalina's Pumpkin-Apple Butter. I don't know if I would get this for a full meal but something for everyone.
This restaurant is bigger than their others. It is a little different that at the other locations, there are drawings everywhere and it's encouraged to sign your name. I would definitely give this restaurant a try if you're looking for a quick breakfast. It is a tad pricey but in my...
