Schuberg's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Big Rapids

Worst meal ever! The server was horrible. “Chuck” had more attitude than when my daughter was a teenager. He brought our food and never returned. We were starving so ate some but only because we were very hungry and the server was outside taking a break. When he came back inside he still didn’t check on us. My medium rare ordered steak was medium well to well done. The cheddar mashed potatoes were served in the shape of a ice cream scoop. Very unappealing. My husband’s salmon sandwich was served on what looked like a hotdog bun. The salmon was flavorless and the tomato was twice as thick as it should have been. When we found that our server wasn’t going to return my husband asked another server for the manager and was told there wasn’t one. This explains A LOT. She got our server and we explained that we were dissatisfied with our meals and service. Our server then said “he wrote the steak as medium rare”. He was told if he would have returned to check on us he would have known it wasn’t ok. He then said “well I guess I can give you a discount for what you didn’t like.” My $18 meal was maybe 1/3 eaten because I was hungry . The discount was minimal, Maybe 10%. The attitude was what pushed me over the edge. He said to us “ I said I’m sorry. What more do you want?” I was taking aback by his defensiveness. I told him to just stop talking and leave. I can honestly say I have NEVER been pushed to that point with a stranger. I was appalled by someone in the service industry being so over the top full...

I was excited to try this restaurant as it is new for both my girlfriend and I. Unfortunately... it was not a pleasant experience.

It was mostly the waitress that made our experience unpleasant. When she brought our food out, my girlfriend ordered another pop. She had sat her empty glass on the end of the table, for at least 10 minutes. A silent way to let staff know she would like another... she never came on her own, which that'sfine, maybe she did not see it. So when she brought the food, we asked for a refill on the soda. The refill never came. The food was barely warm, just over the line of being cold. The young blonde waitress never even came back to the table after bringing our food. So I got up, walked to the bar and asked for 2 to go containers and our bill. When she brought them, she definitely did not bring that drink we were waiting over 30 minutes on.

I think the food would have been good if we got to eat it hot or at least warm. We got the wings as an appetizer and they were really good!!!

I would like to try the restaurant again. Definitely will be sitting in someone else's section. Normally we tip 30% she only got a 15% tip. She didn't even earn that in my opinion. The way she treated us, and ignored us, seemed deliberate. I hope I am wrong, I hope for her sake, she was just having a bad day. If not... I would reccomend she find a job outside the service industry. Hopefully on our second visit, I can leave a...

My girlfriend and I arrived at Schuberg’s at 6:00. We sit and wait 20 minutes for a table, no big deal. We get the table, the waitress asks for our drink orders and she gets them to us. 10 minutes later we order. We wait, and wait, and wait. Watching people around us get their food sooner than us, oh well, we wait. After 30 minutes the waitress comes over saying our ticket is 2 away from the end and it’s soon. Another 30 minutes later she comes with the food. We look and realize it’s the wrong food. Feeling bamboozled, we tell her that this isn’t our order and she scoops it up and brings it to the right table. Now more waiting. We wait and wait and wait. Finally 20 minutes later our food is ready. We eat in 10 minutes flat because we’re so hungry. The waitress comes back and hands us the bill after a little while, I say, “is there any way you guys can cover this? We got here at 6 and have been waiting forever, now it’s 8, I know it’s not your fault but I don’t want to pay this.” She comes back only to have taken our $3 of drinks off the bill. Seriously?!! You give us the wrong order, make us wait longer and then won’t even make up for your mistake? This isn’t the only time this stuff has happened, last time in my group of people they forgot about my order entirely. Good food, horrible service every time...
