I recently visited Dragon China Buffet in Big Spring, Texas, a place that holds many fond childhood memories for me. Back in the early 2000s, this restaurant was always bustling, with hardly any parking available. It was a go-to spot for family dinners and special occasions.
Fast forward to today, and things have definitely changed. The ambience inside is quite bland and subdued, and it's surprisingly quiet compared to the lively atmosphere I remember. The same soundtrack from 15 years ago still plays, adding a touch of nostalgia to the experience.
At around $20 for two people, the buffet offers good value for the variety of food available. While the quality of the food isn't exceptional, it's decent. The orange chicken and the sweet bread with sugar on top are my personal favorites and worth trying if you visit.
One of the highlights of my visit was the sense of stepping back in time. The decor and even the coin slot machine in the back haven't changed, making it feel like the place has been frozen in time. It was a delightful trip down memory lane, reminding me of simpler times.
Overall, while Dragon China Buffet may not be as vibrant as it once was, it still holds a special place in my heart. If you're looking for a reasonably priced meal and a dose of nostalgia, it's...
Read moreLast night went to this restaurant for the first time… and i was VERY disappointed.. the food was ok.. greasy but ok.. asked the server for a drink to go, she told me they charge a dollar for it.. went to the register at front.. there was two asian ladies there, one of them was very rude making a bad face to me after i asked her if i could pay it with debid card (i knew they would say no..) but really what was expecting for her to say was something better than making a face like i was a homeless asking for free food.. she had the opportunity to earn my business but she decided to give me some stupid attitude for a dollar drink… i dont care about the $1.00 drink to go cause i had cash, it was the way she looked at me with a nasty look and the way she couldnt go the extra mile for a new customer.. and they also charge you BEFORE you eat.. so dont leave a tip if you dont know if the service deserves it.. FIRST TIME GOING AND LAST TIME FOR SURE… Get rid of the stupid attitude from management and you may have more customers… you just lost...
Read moreWe spent in total $50 As you walk in, it is dark and dingy. The lady/cashier was very rude. And they charged my two year-old son as an adult. Restrooms were disgusting, water was everywhere and smelt pretty-bad🤮 Also cold water from the ceiling kept dripping on my 10-year-old niece. She was not a happy camper. 0 out of 10
The waitress was awesome. She gave our drinks fast and asked if we needed anything, kept checking on us and took our plates in a timely manner. 9 out of 10
The food was OK. I just wouldn’t try the clams that they have there. It didn’t taste right. Sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, etc. was no good. The noodles and crab Rangoon’s were awesome, and my son enjoyed them very much. The fried rice look like steamed rice with veggies and did not taste good at all! Eggrolls were greasy. 3 out of 10
And as Keith Lee says, this is just my opinion...
