City Brew Coffee — Restaurant in Billings

Staff was friendly and never misunderstood an order, quite good at their jobs generally.

However, I have a few complaints that are heartbreaking.

1: they got rid of the french press and no longer offer it. No single drip coffee on my choice. This limits me severely.

2: the atmosphere is used to know, one that we personable and fun, is now a carbon copy of Starbucks with a "Montana twist" so basically just meh.

3: I ordered a drop of Northern lights. I liked this blend allot, now? Idk, I couldn't tell because it was downright burnt coffee flavored tea. It tasted old, oxydized, burnt, and bland. It was almost all hot water. When I added creme and sugar it literally just tasted like sweet milk. What have they done to what was once the best coffee in town? I could challenge 10 people to make a better cup of coffee and all 10 would do so with little to no experience.

I pride myself on my coffee at home. For 3.75? This was barely worth the 3 minute wait in line. I could sit and show them how many ways this coffee was an insult to all coffee and I'm fairly sure they would be confused at the advice that followed.

Idk what happened while I was away the last 4 years. But it has become such a let down is it any wonder other local coffee venders are doing well enough to thrive? I'm sorry, when I was 15 this used to be where I went, I could select the coffee I wanted and then sit and slowly pour from a french press while reading, and it mattered that the coffee was of quality and they knew that coffee wasn't a sweet treat, a pre-work jolt, or wakeup call to some.

It's an experience. My visit here crushed all of my expectations of what was once a great place to get a cup of coffee. I hope...

12/22...It seems like the overall quality has dropped. The positive atmosphere has dissipated, no more friendly greetings and the drinks aren't always the same. Today I ordered a campfire mocha and it was the worse I've ever had. It was a very cold "hot" coffee and was incredibly sweet (I added an extra shot and nothing else). Not sure what happened to City Brew it used to be the best in town, today I'm in here and the lobby is desperate need of a cleaning and their displays look like they where wiped with a greased rag. It can be better (and has) so please train people better or offer more incentives/encouragement to those working.

Also pleases no smoking at the backdoor when you have it cracked open, guest in your lobby do not...

Usually I have a good experience here but today September 9th, I had a terrible encounter with a rude staff member. She was about middle aged, brunette hair, had a white shirt, and was on headset. I waited approximately 7 minutes and I was debating on just driving away but I thought I would still give it a chance, so I finally spoke up and greeted them first. The lady’s tone on the headset was dismissive and rude. I ordered a medium iced lemon mint sencia tea. I get up to the window and she goes: rewards? In a disgusted tone, I give her my rewards and she just goes: $3.95😑. She then starts complaining about being on headset infront of me. I got my drink and it was a hot tea and before I could even say anything the lady literally slammed the window in my face. I usually give service workers grace because I work in service but this encounter was astounding. The other staff members are...
