Billy's Tavern — Restaurant in Birmingham

Walked in there stone cold sober planning to shoot some pool or make some friends and walked in and looked around and was immediately “greeted” by a plethora of disgruntled and grumpy people in their 70’s. The first words were “what are you here for????” And I simply replied “to play pool and grab a drink!” Which was quickly followed by “nobody’s here playing pool if you wanna play pool go to brown derby or gambles. Somewhere else just not here. You can clearly see nobody here is playing pool. If you go to those places you don’t have to worry about fights.”

The owner was a complete and total smart aleck and very rude and uninviting. I walked in that “venue” (if you want to call it that? It’s really just a musty dark cave that smells like angry elderly people and camel lights) with a happy attitude and low expectations and was still incredibly disappointed.

0/10 and have no intentions of ever returning. If you like angry old people and drinking in the dark this is the place for you! I made the mistake of going in there hoping to make a friend and shoot some pool but boy was I wrong! Will avoid this place like the plague. Thanks for the hospitality (not) and completely unsolicited sarcasm and disgust from me trying to spend money and have a good time. This place sucks and I wasn’t even in there a whole 2 minutes.

I had a fantastic time at Billy’s Tavern! I stopped by after work to unwind, enjoy some great decor and music, and I was immediately greeted with a smile and excellent customer service. The place is filled with thoughtful touches that can take your mind back in time. I thanked the owner for helping me choose a drink and for creating this amazing, tucked-away dive bar treasure. There’s even a pool table, and I can’t wait...

Billy’s is the new spot in town. Great location, awesome dive bar decor, and even better service. I love the layout with the pool tables in the back and wrap around bar. Tons of cool pictures, posters, and other decorations cover the entire place. There isn’t a fancy cocktail menu. Just a good ole bar with cold drinks which means faster service and ease of placing an order. Highly recommend...
