This place is super hit or miss with me. My husband and I just moved to Mountain Brook and discovered it our first. While we waited over 10min (on a fairly slow Tuesday night) for a server to greet us, another worker brought us chips and salsa. I love chips and a good salsa, but unfortunately for El Cazador their salsa isn't in the "good" category. It tastes like they buy and pour it, rather than making it fresh in house. Chilis has better salsa than they do.

Eventually our server made his way over to us but I still couldn't decide what to eat (the menu is way too long and complicated) so the server suggested the "Special Dinner" as it had a little bit of everything. That said, everything was little bit subpar. The chile relleno was the best of the dish, but I didn't even eat half of anything else on my plate. My husband however devoured his entire meal and loved the place.

Which is why we went back for a second time. Apparently they have great drink specials on Thursdays, so we went this past Thursday and I ordered the fajita nachos this go-round. It was exponentially better than my first meal, but still left something to be desired. Yet again, our server (a different one this time) was MIA and rarely came by. He got a few things wrong (wrong drink for me, wrong beer for my husband) likely because he never wrote anything down and couldn't remember by the time he got to the bar. We would've ordered more drinks, but he failed to check back in with us. We ordered churros at the end, and he never brought them. They never made it on our final ticket (the bill) so it looks like he never wrote them down.

Again, my husband absolutely loved his entire meal (notice a trend here) so he wants to try again in the future, but all in all El Cazador was a huge let down to me. I don't think I'll go back...

The customer service is not good. We sat at a bar and the waitress was working the bar area and serving tables. We had to ask for salsa and chips after being there for awhile while a couple sitting across from us had salsa and chips before their drinks. The menus (two) provided to us were sticky. No one smiled or asked if we were good, that were in the bar area working, while she worked other sections and tables. I could understand this if they were busy but they weren't. She then left for the day and said someone else would be taking care of us. We sat there for another 15 to 20 minutes and the bar was unattended. You had people back and forth making drinks but no one ever asked if we needed anything else. This is not my first visit. Usually in the past it's carry out and even then the front desk staff is not friendly. I definitely will not be going back. We spent nearly $60 on poor service and ok food. There are other Mexican restaurants near by that gives...

I used to frequent the place but started noticing problems the last 2 times I was there. First time was a take-out order that looked skimpy and thrown together. When i noticed a drop of sour-cream, I went in and requested more only to have the manager peer down his nose and question me like I was lying. The second time I ordered pollo y camaron for lunch ($12.25) the picture showed a nice cheese covered double breasted chicken meal with shrimp, vegetable medley and rice. What I received was nothing of the sort. A 1/4 thin over-cooked single breast and the shrimp was so over-cooked and dry that it tasted like a mix of card-board and leather and no taste what-so-ever. After mentioning the problems to the rude waiter, I was offered nothing at all to right the issues, only agreeing with me like he has heard these problems many times from other patrons. The Leeds/Moody other location...

Great place for lunch or dinner! Large portions at lower than most Mexican restaurant prices! Been coming to the Montclair Road location for over twenty years now. The interior has recently (within the last year) been TOTALLY redecorated AND refurnished with an old Mexico high-end look and feel! My favorite dish in the menu is the Steak Fajita Quesadilla Dinner. The Chicken Chimichanga is pretty awesome too! The service is always GREAT and fast and the prices are very reasonable! I’ve never posted a bad review for the El Cazador on Montclair Road!

It’s a place that’s been here for a very long time and sadly it’s run down. The food wasn’t that bad. I did enjoy my chimichanga and my mom enjoyed her soup. The rice and beans were bland and the tomato was one big fat chunk. But the worst part was that it’s not a great area and their AC IS OUT. We couldn’t enjoy our meals because we were drenched in sweat and don’t get me started about trying to go to the restroom. Super super tiny restroom with no AC it’s like a sauna and so cramped. I walked in and walked right back out. Server was nice tho! 🫠

Arrived at around 6:30pm. Service was *slightly* slow, but to be expected with it being peak dinner time with so many people there. The food was great for a good price. Lots of vegetarian options. Everything was as expected from this type of restaurant. The seats were actually above average, being extremely comfortable.
