I have had an absolutely terrible experience living at Union at Cooper Hill apartments. The place is infested with rats, and the situation has caused flooding because theyāve eaten through the pipes. Management has been completely unhelpful, rude, and has done nothing major to address these issues. One staff person said they would move me into a different unit and then another staff member called and said that option was no longer available but they would repair the damage to the apartment only. Floors, carpets and walls would be the only thing repaired. No regards to my personal property and I had several damages.
My kids have been getting sick, but management refuses to acknowledge the mold and mildew problems contributing to it. The apartment constantly smells foul, and the overall maintenance has been poor. This has been a nightmare, and I would not recommend anyone to live here. Avoid this place if you care about your health and peace of mind. If I could give them zero stars I would.
Update..... As of 2:30 am on March 7, 2025 I was just woken up to something running across my ceiling after being told they checked for rodents and didn't find anything. I had to take my son to the doctor due to increased use of his inhaler from the mold/mildew problems. The legal team is trying to force me into silence for a $300 credit for damages to my couch were the maintenance man broke the back of it when moving it. This is insane and inhumane! Pray for me and my children!
Update as of 3:34pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025 nothing has been done and the rats are still running around. Tub in master bathroom has been clogged for weeks and after several maintenance requests it's still clogged. Last week my refrigerator lost power due to the electrical issues and I had to throw away everything in my refrigerator. Nothing was done about it either. Do not move here!
Update as of Friday, May 9, 2025 the rat that they found no evidence of ate my children teacher appreciation gift. Oh it's also traveled to my upstairs neighbors apartment.
Update June 4, 2025... I was home when the pest control person came out to do his thing. I noticed that he looked at our unit but never went in. I asked him if he caught anything and his response was "only a few outside. " Now my concern is how are they actively working to resolve the problem if they don't check the problem? I called into the office and spoke with Karen and she said that I haven't requested pest control service that's why I didn't get checked today. In order to receive pest control we must call in weekly to request it. My question is how are they resolving a major...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a tenant who has been addressing necessary emergency repairs and testing for my residence at Cooper Hill. Despite having taken steps to resolve issues contributing to increased electricity and water usage, such as obtaining servicing for relevant systems, the situation persists, necessitating further action. This apartment Iām in should have never been open up to the public; by the mildew and mold with the water leaks they have painted over, the chipping paint of lead of the outdated paint since before 1977-78, from the big hole in my bottom front door, to the unstable and weak outdated windows, and my HVAC having a hole in there and no filter being in their as well. From the laundry mat not working properly/messy, gym out of service, the parking spots are not properly done, there's gates at the top apartments but none at the bottom where I live, no security patrol, no cameras, and poor lightning. I have now taken serious measures; because instead of Union at Cooper Hill taking my babies and I health serious and evacuating us from hazardous measures. They have still been just asking me to pay rent while still knowing these conditions! Iām highly disappointed and just hurt by their lack of code of ethics theyāve shown. I advise everyone to check there apartments to see if you all have chip paint in your places and immediately contact them!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND UNION AT COOPER HILL TO ANYBODY! Iām willing to pay the rent but having to stay in hotels and pay for repairs has took a toll on me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI first moved in here around 2017. In January 2018, there was a drive-by shootout in the parking lot, where my unit and 5 others got hit. There's probably still a bullet in the closet wall that they just painted over when I moved out š
This came after numerous complaints and requests to Cyndi Green, the manager at the time, for increased lighting and some semblance of security. I brought the lack of inside lighting to management's attention and reported the drug activity next door. (Not just cannabis - that's where it crossed the line for me.) Lo and behold, not even two months later, people could have died because of that problematic neighbor and his little turf war.
I moved out, was able to break my lease citing lack of security, unresolved requests for better lighting inside to deter people from using the inner stairwells as hideout spots to shoot their "visitors." Advice to my fellow tenants: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!
That was years ago, so I don't expect my experience to reflect today's reality. Unfortunately, I've found out from friends who now live there that it is barely better than before. Broken down, janky cars taking up spots in the parking lot going unaddressed, neighbors in DV disputes, poor lighting (STILL?! How much does a bulb cost???), even the "renovated" apartments sound the same as the "renovated" one I had, where the front of a kitchen drawer just fell off one day.
If you live in building 1509, look for a bullet in the wall of the living room closet. You won't be...
