Dear Juniper Management,
I wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent visit to your restaurant on June 20th, 2025, with a group of 12–14 guests. We had looked forward to the afternoon and made our reservation well in advance, excited to enjoy the atmosphere and offerings that Juniper is known for and experiencing the new brunch menu.
Unfortunately, the service we received fell short of expectations and did not reflect the quality I’ve come to associate with your brand.
We were seated outside in the back on a particularly hot day. When we politely asked to adjust the angle of the outdoor fans for some relief, we were met with a snarky comment from our server, and no effort was made to help with the request. That interaction set the tone for the evening.
It took approximately 15–20 minutes before we were even offered water, and when it came time to order drinks, I was told, “I can’t go behind the bar and make the drinks,” in a tone that came off as dismissive rather than helpful. Additionally, menu items that were no longer available were not mentioned up front—we only learned of the limitations after trying to order and being told, “We have a small kitchen,” without further assistance or suggestions.
While I understand the challenges of managing a large party, this reservation was made ahead of time, and I believe the service team should have been better prepared. I also recognize that one employee may not reflect the entire staff, but in this case, our server's attitude and lack of attentiveness significantly impacted the overall experience.
That said, I truly enjoy the concept and ambiance that Juniper offers, which is why I chose to bring a large group to your establishment. I hope to continue supporting your business, but I’d also like to share a few expectations that I believe would make future visits smoother:
Professional and Courteous Service – A warm, respectful tone should be consistent, especially when accommodating requests.
Proactive Communication – Informing guests of menu limitations or wait times ahead of ordering helps manage expectations.
Preparedness for Reservations – When large parties are booked in advance, service should reflect thoughtful planning and hospitality.
Juniper has a lot to offer, and I look forward to returning under better circumstances. I’m confident that with the right leadership and training, experiences like ours can be avoided in the...

Read moreWhat an incredible new place! Boyfriend and I stopped here on Saturday at 5 PM with the intention of having some drinks and a small snack before a potluck later that evening. The place was packed, but the friendly hostess (didn't get her name) let us sit on the indoor swing while we waited for a table. In the meantime we were immediately served drinks- a delicious jasmine gimlet cocktail for me and a Malbec for him. We were seated at a table-for-two in the main dining area after about fifteen minutes. We were wowed right away by the cozy yet classy décor. I recognized that some of the accents including the home fragrances throughout the restaurant and the bathroom soaps were from General or Shoppe next door! The food itself was excellent. BF ordered the chicken wings, which were seasoned with orange and clove- like eating a fresh pomander. I ordered the duck fat fries and was pleased to find them gamey but not too greasy or heavy. We also split a crab cake- easily the best crab cake I've had in while, best in town for sure. For dessert we shared the chocolate bread pudding, another best-ever. So light and smooth and silky, it felt like we were eating chocolate mousse. Finally, Laurel was an excellent, attentive server. It is exciting to see a delicious, unique, beautiful restaurant in the Forest Park neighborhood, which lost several beloved businesses over the past few years (Silvertron, Zoe, etc.) We will return and cannot wait for...
