Munchie's on 5th — Restaurant in Birmingham

I've been here two times. It's a nice and the outside is area is a vibe ‼️ The first time I didn't enjoy my experience so much because of the wait time. The second time it was the same thing. I said something to my waiter about how displeased I was. She came on out and gave me and my table her full attention without attitude. However this time as well, the owner name Chris came out apologized for the wait, explained some things to me and he took care of my table. Communication and reassurance is key‼️ And I think that is what a lot of owners and management (especially black businesses) forget about. They get so stuck on making the money that they forget to provide a great experience so people will want to come back. Let me add that I am black myself. And it meant a lot to me when he did that. When you show me you care about your creation, I have no other choice but to work with you and understand where your coming from because I'm a person that understands business....

I’ve been a few times and my previous experiences were great but the experience I had today kinda ruined it for me. I get the boom boom shrimp all the time because they are so good but this time they didn’t cook the shrimp all the way so it was very mushy in the middle. The fried green tomatoes were bomb but I think the portion size is a little small.

My only and biggest issue was with our waitress. She was really sweet and kind but I feel like she was a little shady when splitting the bill. She split everything on the handheld reader and just told us the total, and we paid with our cards and she didn’t offer a receipt, or have us sign anything which I thought was weird. I ask for a paper receipt and she printed one out and a gratuity was added to the bill to a party of 3. They might have signage saying that gratuity is added but I don’t remember seeing anything. I still think it’s a great place to get a late night snack but beware! To be honest I won’t be...

The food is awful the prices ridiculous for what they give you. It was my 1st time there. I ordered the cheeseburger meal and the Shrimp appetizer. The shrimp was over cooked. The hamburger was under cooked and had an odor to it. I sent it back by the waitress and asked for something different in it's place. The manager said I can discount your food but I can not replace it. I only had taken a small bite from the evidently gone bad burger. I asked to see the manager. She came out and finally agreed to give me the 3 whole wing plate. Just that 3 wings. When I got my ticket. She charged me for the hamburger plate which cost more than the chicken plate and she took off the chicken plate. Then charged a $7 gratuity. I just chopped that money up as a charity donation.
