My husband and I chose to have our 19th Anniversary dinner at Ruth’s Chris here in Birmingham. And let me say, it did not disappoint! We were greeted by the hostesses in a professional, prompt, and friendly manner. We had a 7pm reservation and were sat immediately upon arrival (6:56pm). I also received a text regarding our reservation and was able to respond that we were in route. While walking to our table the hostess chatted with us and made us feel very welcomed. Even acknowledged our anniversary! As soon as we sat our server, Steven, greeted us, filled our waters and informed us of the special. We started our meal with the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was delightful and the on our table in less than 10mins! And the relish served with it is certainly created just for that dish (I’m not a fan of sweet for meals but it was truly perfect!) it paired well with the tuna. We then had the house salads, ranch was perfect.
We both had the 11oz filet (Pittsburgh rare). They were cooked perfectly! The steaks were so tender I could’ve cut through them with a butter knife. Perfectly seasoned. I’m very picky about my steak so to say it was perfect, I truly mean that. Our sides consisted of a loaded baked potato (it was huge), lobster Mac and cheese, and creamed spinach……all were delicious.
After we ate all we could Steven boxed our remaining portions up for us. Which were a lot. Yes, some may say the prices are high but you do get a lot of food which I feel should be considered. Really one side dish would feed at least two. That lobster Mac & cheese would probably feed four! So do not allow the prices to overly concern as they overly compensate with the amount of food.
I ordered my husband cheesecake to go, we were stuffed! When our desert to go came out Steven also brought out a complimentary dessert with “Happy Anniversary” nicely written in chocolate on the plate to us. I thought that was rather sweet! And not some nasty house cheap desert, it was a chocolate mousse of some sort (I didn’t look at the dessert menu so not sure exactly what it was). It was so yummy! We were very full from our app, salads, and meal (and the delicious bread) but made sure to gobble that up as it was too good to waste!
Now I would like to focus on Steven, our server. Steven should be a trainer for servers everywhere! He was attentive, engaged with us but not overly to the point he interrupted our meal. He kept our drinks full, kept our table cleared of unused/dirty dishes and glasses, he was knowledgeable of the menu without any hesitation, professional and truly made our night memorable. I hope that Steven gets the acknowledgment he deserves because he truly is an asset to this restaurant, in my opinion. If only servers everywhere were like him!
Thank you Ruth’s Chris for a memorable evening with excellent service and delicious food. I’m extremely pleased with our decision to celebrate our anniversary at...
Read moreMy husband and I visited the establishment for the first time on 15 October 2021. While eating my Ceasar Salad there was a bug crawling across the table. As my husband rushed to capture the unauthorized guest, I proceeded to look for our waiter. After notifying and showing the manager, she instantly apologized and offered us an option to change tables. We were also notified advised that the restaurant just had an exterminator spray a few days prior. It was already getting late, we had already ordered and my husband had to work after so we decided to stay and continue dining at the restaurant. What I find disrespectful is that we were only offered 10% off of our bill. I really hope that no other consumer at this establishment would experience the disrespect and discomfort that my husband and I have.
Ms. Lanie,
Indeed I was in attendance with my husband on the night of 10/15/21 when we visited your establishment. You are right, it was an unexpected, unfortunate and unforgettable disturbing experience.
I'm sure you are aware that there would have no justification if you blatantly disregarded the issue that was at hand. So indeed the proper and professional thing to do was to sincerely apologize and suggest proper accommodations to rectify the incident that occurred. Anything less than that from you or your staff would be an absolute disrespectful kick in the face. The insect that ran across our table was not that of which resides on plants. It is not up for debate, it clearly was a cockroach.
My husband and I noticed the different "house rules" that were posted in various locations of your establishment. We noticed the specific atmosphere, low lit ambience, and distinctive demeanor of your employees which would appear of a highly rated restaurant. All those things really attracted us and definitely had us with high expectations. Obviously we don't believe it was intentional or expected on your behalf, but it indeed happened. With that being presented, certain things are just inexcusable and should not even be a probability.
If pests are roaming freely in the dining area, that calls into question the cleanliness of the cooking and preparation area. We are avid visitors of fine eating establishments and enjoy new experiences to where we can suggest others to visit. That was our first and last time visiting your establishment due to those deplorable circumstances.
Realistically speaking, you are a consumer when you are not in a business capacity. Would a few dollars off a large bill satisfy you if you were to experience the same issue?! In your particular profession, providing Excellent customer service should be always be your ultimate primary goal. The financial aspect is not the issue on our end. Exhausting all options to make sure that you turned a very negative and unforgettable first time experience at your establishment should have been...
Read more$300 bill for nothing special. This restaurant is NOT worth the price. It's the same exact food as every other restaurant, with a blander taste. We'll stick to Saltgrass Steakhouse & Longhorn!! Here's what we ordered: one bottle of Moscato wine which was $48, I've purchased better and sweeter Moscato wine Walmart. Calamari for the appetizer, which I actually liked. I love the crunch and the sweet asian chili sauce, it came with. 2 kids cheeseburger sliders. These were dry, and tasteless. I tried a bite because they didnt look amazing. I was hoping I was wrong. I wasn't! My kids didn't even finish their food, I got the 12oz ribeye cooked medium rare. My steak came out on a VERY scorching hot plate, with a very large quantity of melted sizzling hot butter, I'd say they melted about 1 to 2 sticks of butter on the plate with my steak and lobster tail. You could hear our food coming by the sound of the butter frying in the plate. If you have ever been to a Mexican restaurant that brings out the fajitas on a super hot plate, that's the sound I'm talking about. If someone forgot about the plate being hot, or your kids reached over, they would definitely get a very bad burn!! My plate didn't cool down for a very long time, even after the butter stop sizzling and scorching. The butter tasted awful. It had the scorched taste to it. I also got the $20 lobster tail added on, very small tail. It was a little over cooked. I probably got 4 or 5 small bites worth out of it. The steak was bland and tasteless. I also got the lobster bisque, came out in a small coffee cup sized bowl. Wasn't bad but wasnt good either. Just kind of blah and bland as well, with small chunks of lobster. My husband got the cowboy ribeye, lobster tail, asparagus, and sweet potato casserole. His experience was the same as mine with the piping hot plate and the overwhelming amount of melted sizzling butter. I do have to say, the sweet potato casserole was very good, with the praline pecans on top, and I don't really care for sweet potatoes. I also liked the bread. The bread came out warm with a nice size bowl of butter. We will definitely not be back. We knew Ruth's Chris was very pricey before we stepped foot in there, but we expected something amazing... like I stated above, Saltgrass Steakhouse and Longhorn are way way better!! The waiter we had, was pretty rude at one point. My husband was putting the bread plate on top of the appetizer plate to get it out of the way, as the waiter walked out. The waiter said "please don't stack the plates, I will get it. My husband was already in the process of laying the plate on top of the other one. The waiter said "DON'T DO THAT I WILL GET IT!". My husband and I just kind of looked at each other...this place is nothing special and is not worth the prices they...
