We had an EXCELLENT time with our game master, Zack!
CLUE is an incredible adventure. In depth but spoiler-free review of the room below!
π¦π²π π±πΏπ²πππΆπ»π΄ The initial space is deceptively simple, so with each new discovery we grew more and more impressed with the set design. The puzzles were integrated so well with the decor that puzzles were not jarring but felt like a natural progression of a living storyline.
ππΊπΊπ²πΏππΆπΌπ» I can't remember a single moment in the game in which I wasn't fully immersed. This room is chock-full of glorious moments where you just can't rationalize how something happened and your brain defaults to β¨aha! the magic is real!β¨
π£ππππΉπ²π Few things in the adventure truly qualify as puzzles, and yet each completed step was either a fulfilling "aha moment!" or at least satisfying enough to celebrate. We were WOWed by the seamless integration of both practical and "magical" puzzles. Many elements of the room felt like mini-games, and most importantly the puzzles were linear enough to progress the story but nonlinear enough to allow for our group of five to ALL stay occupied.
As a former game master AND escape room designer, I think games like CLUE are the future of escape rooms! I would recommend this room for date night, family events, friend events, team building, all experience levels, ALL...
Β Β Β Read moreI could LIVE in this place...I love looking for clues and figuring things out. The only "con", in my opinion is the time limit. I know, I know, they have to limit time so other groups can do the room too, but I wish there was an option to ala carte 10 or 15 extra minutes. We didn't catch our stride until we were down to the wire.
Other than that 1 personal wish, I love everything else about this specific "escape room" company. If I come with some people, I don't want to have 3 or 4 strangers in the room with me, with Breakout Games, only YOUR group is in the room.
From the beginning, the guy checking us in commented that it's funny how kids and adults see things differently...and then 3 of the clues we 'figured out' were actually solved by the youngest 2 in our group
Our game master was Parris and I appreciated him giving us direction without giving away anything or giving outright hints. When we DID ask for hints, he would clarify what KIND of hint we were looking for (e.g., "do you want to know this" or "would you like me to tell you about that). It's hard to explain but it allowed us to progress without feeling like he was just giving away the clues. We were NOT successful in breaking out so I asked him not to reveal the remaining clues...we will be back to break out...
Β Β Β Read moreI went to Breakout back in 2017 with coworkers, and had a blast - so decided to invite my siblings and some friends to play the Mystery Manor room today. We're a diverse group of personalities and energies in our 40s and 50s - but we all jumped into the game with both feet and had a BALL!!!
Our Game Master, Lydia, was phenomenal! We did ask for 2 hints, and the way they were given was not like giving away the answer on a test (i.e., mentioning an item we found and telling us to explore it, rather than saying "the answer is [x]") - that kept the challenge level up and still allowed the team to make the discovery on our own. The game itself was challenging, intriguing, and compelling. The variety of puzzles was fun and allowed each of us to find a challenge that suited us. And there were some REALLY fun surprises!
In 2017 my team failed by, literally, less than 10 seconds - but this time we made it out with time to spare. Although, I have to say, I had a great experience both times - win or lose. I'm looking forward...
