My coworker and I just recently went in to get some lunch. A sandwich (blackbird) and salad (thai). I asked for a few extra dressings and two of the leftover pastries from upfront.
My issue is time...I hate that this is about time because this is something that can be controlled given the correct way to prioritize time. We waited for 20 mins for a sandwich and salad because the sweets were already given, to say something.
After 20 mins my coworker spoke up and the person from back came up and said we were next. Which ended up not be the case... I could see that there were people there that were waiting a lot longer than us two which I felt bad for.
This place has a younger team and the baristas or check out ladies up front were happily to be in a chat. If it were busy... one of them should of been in the back to help.
I am sorry but almost 30 mins for a salad and sandwich...something isn't right.
I worked in a fast paced fast service restaurant with hot and cold items, also with less people that I saw working at Corner Grind today. Everyone that I worked with was doing something at all times and we worked as a team. I did not see that here today...the ladies were just kind of piddlepaddling around maybe making a drink or two.
The attitude behind the counter, from the person in the back was uncalled for and was written all over their face. The sandwich is filled with less meat and the bacon was hard. The salad was fine i just didn't understand the wait time.
If more people need to be in the back then this needs to be recognized so that help can be provided. We must respect peoples time, as this is a great place to have lunch but speed and efficiency must be there.
As a fellow person in the food industry, as well as completing my culinary degree within two months. It saddens me that service is no longer what i read about and what i have studied. Food is one of the loveliest things we have here on earth but when having a restaurant you must believe that service goes hand and hand with it. I wasn't expecting a culinary masterpiece, i just wanted a salad and sandwich in a respected time.
Please hire more people for the back, or look at your prep times. Maybe cross train some baristas to help with food service. Do...
Read moreI am not one to ever really write bad reviews ever but this place has 100% changed since it was bought by the new owners.
Hereâs why:
-- amazing baked-in-house goods replaced with Costco-grade baked goods -- smaller portionsâŠhigher prices (example: lunch sandwiches portions are way down and no longer pack the same amazing taste) -- chalkboard menus replaced by tv screens that werenât even on -- coffee quality is down -- shop seems to be not as clean â lots of cosmetic changes - not necessarily a bad thing, but it used to feel like a local mom and pop shop. now it feels like itâs trying to be a trendy millennial cafe with sticker vending machines and tv screens everywhere
I might sound like an old grump who hates change but Iâm actually in my early 20âs and very bummed to write this. I used to go here almost every day and my fiancĂ© and I raved about it to everyone we knew. Everyone was so friendly and the baristas even knew our names and usual orders. Seeing this place slowly lose the heart and soul of what made it a wonderful local business has been a huge bummer. Thereâs nothing particularly wrong with it now, itâs just a normal coffee shop - but I miss the old Corner Grind and probably wonât be coming back...
Read moreStopped in last Saturday after a 40-mile bike ride to get refueled and enjoy a cup of coffee on a coolish morning. The 12oz Columbian decaf was delicious. The Scrambowl was disappointing and embarrassing. This option comes with 2 eggs, cheese, choice of meat, and avacado. I am vegetarian and omitted the meat. I did not ask for a price adjustment. This is served in a small paper cup or VERY tiny bowl, hence the name, the egg was obviously microwaved as it was tough and green inside, the cheese was a couple of melted strings and basically nonexistent, not even a taste of cheese, and the avocado slices were underripe. The total bill was $6 and change. I was shocked that they charged $4.25 for subpar eggs in a cup. I did, however, get 5 dinner-quality napkins in my takeout bag! I guess they feel comfortable over charging for low quality when they are the only breakfast/coffee joint in town. Prepare to wait if you are in a hurry to grab n go. Not on their agenda and they seemed well staffed unlike many establishments these days. They will need to step up their game for...
