We arrived at around 6:40 on a Friday evening. We had no trouble finding a seat for our group of 3. Right away we noticed the mural on the wall. It was the entire wall and was engaging to look at. We took a little time to peruse the menu. What we noticed was that because it was a âfancyâ place there was no option to turn something into a combo. The fries and onion rings werenât even listed under âsidesâ they were under âsnacksâ. In my head Iâm thinking they must be so large they feed more than one person, especially at seven dollars for fries. We were wrong! They came in a small bowl and were entirely underwhelming and undeserving of the price point. The onion rings were priced at ten dollars and were whelming but also undeserving of the price point.
For our entrees we ordered two pulled pork sandwiches, one without slaw and one with slaw on the side. The final entree was a brisket sandwich. The pulled pork sandwiches arrived hot and smothered in sauce and filled the entire bun! The brisket sandwich arrived open face with lettuce, tomato, brisket with sauce on the side. The presentation of the food was satisfying. Taste of the food was like home cooking. The brisket tasted like my moms slow cooker pot roast. There wasnât an amazing flavor I could detect. The sauce was very tangy and didnât have any heat or kick. The pulled pork was covered in sauce and didnât have any smoke or natural flavor to detect. The pork paired well with the bun but wasnât anything special for my taste buds. The brewery had amazing options for drinks and they were very reasonably priced. Although I didnât buy any I would recommend you do to improve your experience with such whelming food.
Overall I would give the entire experience a 5. The atmosphere was louder so I was able to focus on the conversion at my table and not others around me. There was a beautiful wall to look at. It wasnât so busy that we couldnât find a table or have to leave right when we were done. The presentation of the food was on point. The food was whelming but nothing I couldnât make at home. The price point was deserved for their drinks and fit the âfancyâ style for the food but I was left unsatisfied just like...
Read moreAfter giving management plenty of time to finish responding, I felt it necessary to leave a review of our experience here back on April 16th. My husband and I made a stop here around 2pm, and upon arriving we noticed it wasn't that busy. The girl at the door who "greeted" us - looked less than enthused to be there. She said we could sit anywhere in the back. At first we contemplated sitting at the bar, but noticed a high top table open, although dirty with a towel on it.
We sat down and waited, and after a few minutes, wondered if anyone had even noticed us. The two girls working didn't look very busy, one even made eye contact with me, but nobody came over. I saw one looking at her phone, and they were doing other misc. work tasks. We thought about leaving, but we drove almost 30 minutes to come specifically here. Even more time passed.
We got up, walked to the bar, still unnoticed by the two girls working. After we sat, we were greeted semi-quickly by the bartender, and he was kind and upbeat. He was the only positive experience of our visit. Huge props to him for being good at his job.
Otherwise I was very disappointed by the lack of customer service and enthusiasm to work, especially when they weren't busy. We like to support local, as I grew up in Elburn, but how frustrating this was.
I contacted them the same day on Facebook messenger. They apologized and asked for my information. 13 whole days later, Jay Scott (General Manager) - finally reached out via email to apologize, invite us back to "show us who they really are" - and insisted on gifting us a gift card. I responded back promptly thanking him for his email, and that we'd like to return and give them another shot. I also said the gift card wasn't necessary but was certainly appreciated.
After that email it has been complete radio silence. I messaged back more than once via email, as well as re-reached out on messenger. I also called, and they girl who answered was rude to me when I asked for Jay Scott.
I wanted to give them another chance, and it was the Manager's insisting on us coming back, but they dropped the ball and obviously don't care about our opinion or want our support of...
