(lactose free review!) My wife and I drove out here to try this brewery. Definitely a fan. We ordered the pick 3 BBQ which was really great. We got brisket, spare ribs and salmon. The salmon does come with tartar sauce that isn't lactose free but the bbq sauce was fine with me. We also got a side of the Formula 47 fries which were yum. We also ordered the bacon wrapped fried oreos. I thought they were really good. The beers we had were the following ordered by favorites First time feeling - strawberry kettle berliner weiss Vanilla doom - red ale with vanilla Tow City - braggot hefeweizen Crazy soul - coffee blonde ale Talk to me about it - session ipa Cals Gold Ribbon - belgian ipa I made the mistake of ordering a 12oz of the First Time Feeling (strawberry weiss) with dinner. Event though it was our favorite beer. It did not go with bbq and brisket at all. I would have much rather got the hefeweizen or the session ipa to go with the meal instead. For milk haters (like me) this place had enough options. The challenge was asking the waitress who didn't seem confident in what did or didn't have lactose in it. I think they could do a better job and help their staff and customers out by listing allergins on the menu. Overall great visit and loved the decor and music playing. Will go again.

When you mix beer and BBQ together, you can't go wrong! Located in downtown Elburn, this brewery offers some unique beers with mouthwatering BBQ. Plus they have a beer garden with live music ( Check website for schedule) Went on a Saturday for lunch and were seated immediately. The server Anna P was very helpful. We ordered a flight..5 oz pours of Orange Pop(Blonde Ale),Tow City(Wheat beer),Vanilla Doom (Red Ale) ,Moon Berry (Mead) ,Strawberry Rhubarb (Cider) . All were pretty solid. They also offer an extensive cocktail menu. For lunch we had the brisket with street corn and sweet heat BBQ sauce and Alabama white sauce. The brisket was juicy ..melt in your mouth and both sauces were fantastic. Also tried their Honey Grilled Bologna with spicey mustard. It was ok but a little on the salty side. Would have preferred a Hot Honey sauce instead. Great place to stop in just for drinks, music, appetizers or lunch/dinner ..will definitely be back!

We went to Obscurity Brewing to try their beers. While we were there, we were blown away by how wonderful not only the beers were, but also the food and atmosphere as well. Our group included my mom, mother and father-in-law (in their 70s), two children (9 and 12) and my husband. Everyone enjoyed their food!! To start we got the cornbread muffins- they are to die for!!! The kids each had the mac and cheese with fries, my mom had the pulled pork and fried potatoes, my MIL had the shrimp with street corn (she felt the shrimp were a little spicy but still loved them) and my FIL had the BBQ mac pretzel sandwich, my husband had the brisket and I had the portobello mushroom sandwich. There is also a playground that is across the street from the brewery, and I should mention you cannot bring your beer over while you are watching the kiddos. This place is a must go and we will be back!!

We arrived at around 6:40 on a Friday evening. We had no trouble finding a seat for our group of 3. Right away we noticed the mural on the wall. It was the entire wall and was engaging to look at. We took a little time to peruse the menu. What we noticed was that because it was a ‘fancy’ place there was no option to turn something into a combo. The fries and onion rings weren’t even listed under ‘sides’ they were under ‘snacks’. In my head I’m thinking they must be so large they feed more than one person, especially at seven dollars for fries. We were wrong! They came in a small bowl and were entirely underwhelming and undeserving of the price point. The onion rings were priced at ten dollars and were whelming but also undeserving of the price point.

For our entrees we ordered two pulled pork sandwiches, one without slaw and one with slaw on the side. The final entree was a brisket sandwich. The pulled pork sandwiches arrived hot and smothered in sauce and filled the entire bun! The brisket sandwich arrived open face with lettuce, tomato, brisket with sauce on the side. The presentation of the food was satisfying. Taste of the food was like home cooking. The brisket tasted like my moms slow cooker pot roast. There wasn’t an amazing flavor I could detect. The sauce was very tangy and didn’t have any heat or kick. The pulled pork was covered in sauce and didn’t have any smoke or natural flavor to detect. The pork paired well with the bun but wasn’t anything special for my taste buds. The brewery had amazing options for drinks and they were very reasonably priced. Although I didn’t buy any I would recommend you do to improve your experience with such whelming food.

Overall I would give the entire experience a 5. The atmosphere was louder so I was able to focus on the conversion at my table and not others around me. There was a beautiful wall to look at. It wasn’t so busy that we couldn’t find a table or have to leave right when we were done. The presentation of the food was on point. The food was whelming but nothing I couldn’t make at home. The price point was deserved for their drinks and fit the ‘fancy’ style for the food but I was left unsatisfied just like...

After giving management plenty of time to finish responding, I felt it necessary to leave a review of our experience here back on April 16th. My husband and I made a stop here around 2pm, and upon arriving we noticed it wasn't that busy. The girl at the door who "greeted" us - looked less than enthused to be there. She said we could sit anywhere in the back. At first we contemplated sitting at the bar, but noticed a high top table open, although dirty with a towel on it.

We sat down and waited, and after a few minutes, wondered if anyone had even noticed us. The two girls working didn't look very busy, one even made eye contact with me, but nobody came over. I saw one looking at her phone, and they were doing other misc. work tasks. We thought about leaving, but we drove almost 30 minutes to come specifically here. Even more time passed.

We got up, walked to the bar, still unnoticed by the two girls working. After we sat, we were greeted semi-quickly by the bartender, and he was kind and upbeat. He was the only positive experience of our visit. Huge props to him for being good at his job.

Otherwise I was very disappointed by the lack of customer service and enthusiasm to work, especially when they weren't busy. We like to support local, as I grew up in Elburn, but how frustrating this was.

I contacted them the same day on Facebook messenger. They apologized and asked for my information. 13 whole days later, Jay Scott (General Manager) - finally reached out via email to apologize, invite us back to "show us who they really are" - and insisted on gifting us a gift card. I responded back promptly thanking him for his email, and that we'd like to return and give them another shot. I also said the gift card wasn't necessary but was certainly appreciated.

After that email it has been complete radio silence. I messaged back more than once via email, as well as re-reached out on messenger. I also called, and they girl who answered was rude to me when I asked for Jay Scott.

I wanted to give them another chance, and it was the Manager's insisting on us coming back, but they dropped the ball and obviously don't care about our opinion or want our support of...

A Culinary and Craft Brewing Odyssey at Obscurity Brewing

Nestled in the charming village of Elburn, Illinois, Obscurity Brewing stands as an illustrious beacon for culinary connoisseurs and craft beer enthusiasts alike. This multifaceted establishment masterfully intertwines the ancient art of smoking meats with the modern science of brewing, offering patrons an unparalleled gastronomic journey. Through the meticulous preparation of dishes and the innovative curation of beverages, Obscurity Brewing elevates the seemingly ordinary into the extraordinary.

The Art of Smoked Meats: A Testament to Culinary Precision

At the heart of Obscurity Brewing’s menu lies its pièce de résistance: an array of smoked meats that epitomize culinary craftsmanship. Each cut is treated with the utmost reverence, undergoing a transformative process in custom smokers. This painstaking method infuses the meats with a symphony of flavors, where the smokiness dances in harmonious unison with the natural juices of the protein.

Patrons are presented with a diverse selection, ranging from tender brisket that practically dissolves on the palate to ribs so delectably glazed they require no accompaniment. The pulled pork, slow-cooked to perfection, boasts a texture so unctuous and a flavor so robust that it could easily stand alone as a centerpiece. Complementing these offerings are house-made sauces that range from tangy Carolina-style vinegars to rich, molasses-infused barbecues, each crafted to amplify the meats’ inherent qualities.

A Destination Worth the Journey

In an era where dining experiences often feel commodified, Obscurity Brewing stands as a testament to the transformative power of thoughtful preparation and genuine passion. Whether you are drawn by the allure of expertly smoked meats, the vibrancy of fresh, inventive salads, or the boundless creativity of craft beer, Obscurity Brewing delivers on every front.

For those fortunate enough to find themselves in Elburn, Illinois, this establishment is not merely a place to dine or drink; it is a destination that invites you to savor,...
