Cute space with a great view of the bay. Had to wait almost 40 min for a panini though... My order was still wrong when I got it unfortunately and I couldn't go back due to time. :( maybe call ahead during lunch time.
Wanted to note that the establishment has Trump signs hanging up. Surprising to see in a border town. Won't be returning for this fact alone, but my experience wasn't great either.
Edit to add:, I'm not sure why the owner decided to respond to my comment, but I'm going to note that perhaps you should just take feedback instead of responding negatively to your negative reviewers. The Trump sign was right next to where you display your menus at the counter, it was a giant gold bill with Trump on it that can be seen in the photos people have submitted here. I'm not sure why we're pretending it wasn't there. And it's okay if my sandwich was wrong, I didn't need a refund because I believe in supporting local businesses. The experience was still the experience I had, and responding rudely will not change the review, and in fact, will most definitely ensure I...
Read moreI had super high hopes for this seemingly cute train car breakfast nook. I sought it out on our day trip north! But.. I was let down by their less than ok food, the passive aggressive political messages decorating the place, and the truly unpleasant customer service. I had one question about an item and she acted like I was the antichist. Yet, we stayed, gave it a shot, dealt with the suspicious looks shooting our direction. The scrambled egg tasted like it was reconstituted from a carboard box, the sandwich bread was stale. The bacon was the precooked bacon from Costco, dipped in cold oil and microwaved!! Ick. Even the little pastry was unfortunate. My son and I are not food snobs... but the quality was clearly terrible. It was expensive to boot! Like, what? They need to focus on bettering the quality of their food instead of pushing their nutty right wing agenda in this food establishment. Relax railway cafe. Seriously. Put down the fox and pick up some real...
Read moreThis was a perfect breakfast/lunch stop for our family. The owners are charming people, taking time to chat and play with our kids while we waited for our food. Especially important when our little guy was absolutely fascinated by the caboose based building, and train-theme items. Food (sandwiches and a breakfast wrap) was superb. A rare case where I finished and thought they were undercharging for the size and quality of the meal. Espresso machine makes a great shot, and the drip coffee was good, too. As a family, we left saying we will come again, either as part of our border crossing routine, or when we are camping in the area, again.
Nice view of the bay, as well. Ample street parking for cars, and a good place to put bicycles.
TIP for rainy days: The images may not show that there is a fair amount of interior seating between the caboose and a full enclosed patio section...
