We stay across the street from Huddle House at Best Western ALOT, my guy has big jobs out here. We walked in here, around dinner, there were maybe 5 tables taken up with solo diners ( they had their food) and some folks just hanging out here - we said hello but no one greeted us. The cook was an older gentleman, maybe 5' 6- smaller frame. Did not get his name, it did not appear it was his first day here-learning how to operate a grill. There was also a young woman working, Ill get to that. So as we took a seat in front of the main area, we are watching and waiting, it was actually fascinating- - we ended hanging out -- I go hey let's stay, to see how long this would go on- so we stayed 15 FULL minutes! It was like we were dipped in invisible ink... I KNOW the old cook was a seasoned employee. I'm older myself, most of us are friendly because we are old school..if woulda been nice to have at least been ? noticed ? greeted-? Instead, he looked at us with no expression at all-no frown, no smile, nothing) the waitress, she came out of the back after about 7 minutes of our sitting there waiting for menus ( I did have to wipe up our table but that's no biggie not why I'm complaining) She immediately saw us, and gave us a huge "deer in the headlights stare" and, just kept walking, as we sat open-mouthed just observing and waiting... I could not believe it! I worked at Waffle House in the late 90's in Alpharetta, Ga, and also I am retired Holiday Inn Express--( I WAS IN the service industry) We are very average Joe's. An older couple who just wanted some food. We ended up walking out while the grill operator and waitress just watched....I guess they did not like that we weren't regulars, could that be it? I'm 59, no spring chicken, here 😆I still can't figure it out- so maybe it was because we are tourists, that they didn't want our service? Just an uppity experience, that I was shocked to receive from the country especially!!. There's no excuse for bad behaviour. This was actually worse, we had service neglect. This is the perfect example of you never get a chance to make a second impression. Just behaviour Huddle House franchise owner/ and or Corporate- needs to be made aware of, If I was the owner I would want good, friendly sales people... Thanks for your attention. Ann Daniels / the great reviews must be from the regulars who just hang out here in the parking lot all day servicing their bicycles and motorcycles- as I see that from our hotel balcony. I truly love your "God Bless America" sign, but it sure feels like "LOCALS ONLY NO...
Read moreWe've driven by Huddle House for years and never stopped. Today, with a lack of adequate breakfast restaurants in Blairsville, we decided to finally try it out. It's obvious that the staff enjoy being there. They were friendly, smiling, and knew their regular customers. We were served quickly and the food was hot and cooked to order. If I had one complaint, it would be that the music in the back of the restaurant, where we were sitting, was a little loud. The prices are wonderful. All-in-all, we look forward to returning and to trying lunch and/or dinner.
Edit: Stopped in for dinner the other night. Our server was too busy chatting with someone so the other server waited on us. It was evident that the server didn't want to be there. The floors were very slippery and I thought I was going to fall. Dinner was nothing more than ok. When we checked out at the cash register, we were given the credit card reader and the first server left to wait tables instead of giving us a receipt. She barely spoke to us and didn't ask me for my phone number to put in my rewards before she was gone. We probably...
