Buddy's Pizza — Restaurant in Bloomfield Township

Before I begin, let me inform you that I LOVE Buddy's Pizza. I have been to several locations throughout the Metro Detroit area, and this one is by FAR the WORST !! To start, when I called to place my order I was RUDELY interupted by young man taking my order. Before even greeting me he made it CLEAR that the wait is almost an hour long. His tone of voice would make ANYONE no longer want to place their order. He made it seem that by placing my order he was doing me such a HUGEEEEE favor. I was in the area for the day so I was NOT going to let this punk stop me from ordering my whole lasagna with meat sauce, salad (w/ ranch dressing), breadsticks, and 8 piece cheese pizza with extra sauce on the side (for my gf) !! During the ordering process he didnt even ask what dressing I wanted !! What a shame. Fast forward to when I picked up my order, the young man said he gave away my pizza ( as a joke ) but I was NOT laughing. Anyway, they did not have the correct salad I ordered so he grabbed a random one and rudely asked "is this one okay?". At this point, I was extremely hungry so I let it slide. BUT, yet again he didnt ask what dressing I wanted so before putting it in the bag I clarified I wanted ranch dressing. He began packing the salad into the paper bag AND TOTALLY DISREGARDED THE FACT THAT I ASKED FOR RANCH DRESSING !!!! Do you know what he did instead !? HE GAVE ME OIL AND VINEGAR !!! I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought he put it in the bag which had my lasagna ( I WAS WRONG ). Before walking away I asked to make sure he gave me extra sauce and he said that yes he did. Fast forward to me checking everything in the car, and to my surpise there was NO ranch and NO extra sauce. I. Was. FURIOUS !!! I walked back over to the restaurant and he gave me a little smirk. He KNEW he didnt give me my ranch because he was reaching for it in the fridge before we even exchanged words. He then looked at me blankly and had the BALLS to ask "is there anything else?" YES KID, THE EXTRA SAUCE YOU CHARGED ME FOR BUT DIDNT PROVIDE. Oh I was so LIVID. As I said previously, I love Buddy's Pizza, but the service in this location is TERRIBLE. I never post reviews so the fact that I did this speaks VOLUMES. 1/10 I do not recommend this location unless you like your orders placed WRONG and being provided AWFUL...

Update: 2/2/2025

Was hoping maybe they got better. Ordered a couple pies at family's prompting - despite my protests. Ended up with soggy pizzas despite requesting "Well Done" in the online order. This place doesn't seem to want to get better and is content charging $25 for wet, soggy crusts. I can't believe they're still in business.

Never again. Ordered from this location 3 times over the past year or so - every time, they manage to screw up our order.

1. ordered salad and a pie on our way home from a funeral (about a half hour away). Got there, waited for another 40 minutesbin the shop - for the salad (at least we were hungry when we got home?)

2. ordered by phone one 8 piece Detroit style, and a one 8 square thin crust (which they apparently don't do anywhere, but nobody bothered to tell me). Got two 4 square pies (at least one was thin?).

3. today, got the pizza home and the dough was soggy. Not uncooked soggy, but like it sat in a puddle soggy. 2 pies. Disgusting. (At least they were cooked?)

Seriously, don't bother. Go to the one on Woodward near 14. Way better everything (until you hear...

We order 2 half-baked pizzas every week from this location. HANDS DOWN, this is the best Buddy's! We started our obsession with Buddy's 42 years ago when we were dating, and went to the original Hamtramck location on Conant to get pizza. They were fantastic! When we both worked full-time, we picked up half-baked pizzas from random locations: Grosse Pointe, Northwestern Hwy, etc.

A few years I had to go to Mills Pharmacy and called in an order for our pizzas to this location. Since then, every week, we have been loyal fans of the Maple & Lahser Buddy's, even though it is NOT convenient for us at all. However, the pizzas are always flawless, and every young person working the register is an absolute pleasure - well-mannered and competent. Unparalleled service...
