Not really a review type of person, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night without giving people a heads up. Came in for carry out and as I was waiting there was a man sitting in one of the front booths talking with the waitresses. The waitress left. He then started to pick his nose on and off for 5 min before going behind the counter. At this point knowing they were cooking my food I stood up to make sure he wasn't handling any food or at least washed his hands. He did not wash his hands . He then took my food from the chef and with his nasty bare hands removed some fries from my carry out, I'm assuming because the lid wouldn't close. At this point I asked him if he washed his hands he responded with "do they look dirty, I wash them all the time". I then told him that I watched him pick his nose and handle food. He started to deny and then realizing he couldn't he opened the register and gave me a refund. With the easy access to the register and his attire I'm assuming he was the owner which makes this even scarier. Disgusting! Hope...
Read moreI believe the server's name was Jacqueline third day she was spot-on from the coffee from the first cup to the finish the refills and the meal love the corned beef hash they're one of the best in Oakland County if not in the state. Prepared to order should you like less green pepper or onion you can do that when you place your order they also include an English muffin is opposed to limiting you to just toast. Which is indeed important to me because I do like a good English muffin. Most importantly the coffee is served hot each and every time it comes from the pot and it's fresh not overly cooked on the burner. I don't get a chance to go very often but when I do it is always a wonderful experience I can't finish the meal in fact I just had a little bit of the corned beef hash for my...
Read moreThe best of the last. Ember's is one of the few true deli's left in the Detroit area. I've been a customer for the past 35 years. The cornbeef was the best I have had in years. The cornbeef was moist flavorful and just the right temperature. The rye bread was amazing. I was back in the day.
The service was also amazing. The waitress and owner were personable and friendly. The waitress was funny and smiled, which I needed on a very rough day.
I've returned to the Detroit area after being in the Deli desert (San Francisco Bay area) after being away for 25 years. When I came back my go to was always Ember's first. Onion Roll Deli (now gone) and Allstar Deli (also gone).
Thank you for just being and may you go on forever. I hope you keep the...
