Treats new customers poorly! Today I was having a great morning and decided to take a long walk and give Skiddoo Cafe another try after I was treated poorly during my previous visit six months ago. Perhaps the owner was simply in a bad mood last time? Nope. He was rude again!!! I wanted to order a breakfast pastry, which is a special treat. Since they are caloric, I only order what looks particularly good. I tried to look in the window where you can normally kind of see what is offered, but for whatever reason, I was having trouble seeing them. Since they want customers to order outside and pick up your orders inside, I decided to quickly take a look inside and was then going to try out their QR ordering system. The woman helping me was absolutely lovely. However, the owner was staring at me in a way that reminded me of a German Shepherd trying to decide whether to attack. Since I didn't want an experience like what I had before, I told them about my previous review and that I would order outside. The owner was very rude and told me to leave. I am always polite when ordering and have never been treated this way at any coffee shop or restaurant. My guess is that the owner is scared about his health, which is understandable. I wish he would make adjustments to the cafe's operations so that he would not be aggressive with customers who are simply trying to order. (Review from March 2020) I am new customer and very careful about which businesses I enter due to COVID. They were very hostile to me doing what all new customers do -- check out a place and ask questions. I was respectful and wearing a well-fitting KN95 mask. If they are too scared to tend to the basic needs of a new customer, they need to take accountability and adjust their business procedures accordingly. They also didn't give me the option to decide on the tip, but they charged me for one on my credit card (after rude service). Having recently moved to the area, I would have been their ideal loyal customer if they had treated me with just the basic consideration I expect from...

I really wanted to like this place and gave it several chances, but after my most recent visit I wonāt be coming back. My mom and I stayed for about 4 hours, purchased 4 items, and were quietly enjoying our time. A few minutes before we were about to leave, one of the older gentleman/staff came up to us and said, āThis is not WeWork, you guys stay here for a few hours, even bringing outside drinks. Buy something or I'm asking you to leave. I need to turnover the tables.ā The comment felt unnecessary and out of placeāespecially since there were other tables occupied by people clearly studying or working who were not approached. The "outside drink" was our water bottles.
On the way out, the staff glared at us, which only added to the discomfort. This wasnāt an isolated experience eitherāthe last two times I visited, I felt watched. Itās an environment that feels more policed than welcoming, almost āhelicopter staffā style management.
What makes this even more troubling is that friends of mine, also people of color, have experienced similar treatment here. I canāt say for sure if itās racism, but the pattern is hard to ignore. At the very least, it speaks to a lack of consistent, respectful customer service.
A cafe should feel like a place where people are welcome to relax, enjoy their drinks, and spend timeāespecially when they are paying customers. Unfortunately, this place has left me feeling singled out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband just had the most shocking experience at this cafĆ©. We have been patronizing this place for several years and this is the first time he has encounted the owner. My husband went in and ordered food, paid for it and sat down. Immediately the owner began to harass him about where he parked his car, which was in one of the legal spots in the front. After he was done harassing him about his car, he again came over and told him he needed to get up, but he didnāt just use his words, he proceeded to grab, my husbandās coffee and pastry to move it for him. When my husband said that he would move, but for the owner not to touch his belongings, the owner began to yell at him and tell him that heās not special and that he needed to leave. The owner proceeded to go to the few other patrons who were sitting and told them that the store was closing but they could come back in 15 minutes. He did not give such option to come back to my husband. When my husband left the store, he noticed that the other patrons just went to their car to wait so the owner could let them back in. As crazy as it sounds it seems like the owner literally closed down the shop just to get my husband out. We are never going to this place again. At first we thought it was a case of racism until we read other Google reviews where many others have also expressed that the owner is rude and can become...
