Dolce Pizza — Restaurant in East Orange

Unfortunately, the extremely kind delivery driver made an honest mistake in giving me someone else’s order. No big deal. However, it became a big deal when the restaurant called me and asked that I put all the incorrect food back in the bag to give it back to the delivery driver who would then bring it to the correct person’s home. They made sure to clarify I didn’t touch anything. I stated I didn’t eat anything but DID open everything to confirm it wasn’t my order and even ripped the tightly tied plastic bag open. This was acceptable to them and they decided I would just place all the food back and give it back to the driver who was on his way back to my home. They even asked that I switch the broken plastic bag with the bag that held my CORRECT order in which was soon to be delivered by the driver. Mistakes happen and I don’t mind that the driver gave me the incorrect food. I DO mind that this establishment finds it acceptable to have food that was already delivered be taken back and given to another customer instead of making them a brand new order. It’s concerning how trusting they are that someone wouldn’t tamper with an individual’s food and trust that they didn’t touch it although they have absolutely no idea who they are speaking to over the phone. VERY concerning and unethical business practices which most definitely are a health liability. The driver informed me he would return the food to the restaurant because he agrees this was extremely wrong although his honest mistake in bringing me the wrong food. I place zero blame on him. I love the food!!!! But the people that work there unfortunately make your experience so bad that you don’t want to come back!!! I made an order and it appears 1 hour and 25 minutes later; when it was supposed to be no more then 40 minutes!!! I call to just check in and the nasty and rude girl on the phone hangs up on me. I called back to make sure it wasn’t just a call drop and she said “What you want?!” I said to her excuse me I just called to see when will I get my food delivered! I work long hours nearby and order food on an almost daily basis. I've found this area's Italian restaurants/pizzarias to be a disgrace to North Jersey and Italians. (I can say that. Macartney isn't my maiden last name) Craig of Dolce's stopped by, introduced himself (Nice guy, helped me sell a car), invited us to give them a try and the rest is history. They deliver, their food is best in the area (and I've tried them all) and the owners are cool. My favorite part is that they don't scrimp on the salad dressing. Perfect amount.
