Bloomington's Bob Evans...๐ถ Where do I Begin...๐ต(...I Remember a Real Tear Jerker of a Movie, but I wasn't here to write a Script!)
Okay, now here's the Real Love Story about Bob Evans in Bloomington!
Back in the Day... Bob's was a very Special Place for me, and I began a Relationship with THIS particular Location... and it's one that I am More than Happy to Report continues!
Little did I know back then how much this Restaurant would come to mean to me now... nearly 40 years after I first walked in here. Somehow, it seems like Bob Evans has been a Guidepost and so much more than a place to get a Hearty Hot Meal.
One of the things I Love is the Attitude of the long time Staff. During my most recent visit, my Server was Lola... and She is definitely a Jewel that Bob Evans should be Proud of...in fact Her Presence there was nothing short of a Blessing delivered to me in the late morning.
The Food, as always, was both Prepared (... remember that there's a whole Crew you don't see pulling together to make a Blessing Possible from the Kitchen) and Presented in a Professional manner, one which is likely honed to a Razor Sharp edge by the Home Office in Ohio. The Folks that work here must be some of...if not the Best Bob Evans Employees.
Usually, I sit at the Counter... the Province of Individuals of Certain Carriage and (Questionable?) Character... but, due to the Ongoing Pandemic, I was Permitted to Partake of the Privilege of Service in the Main Dining Area.
(I really miss the Counter...my Can feels a little Guilty out there with the Grown-ups and three Empty Chairs in a Busy Restaurant)
Still, Bob Evans Service Excelled...I had Hot Coffee and Sunshine while I waited to be Seated and Served by a Professional and Accommodating Hostess... and then More Coffee and More Sonshine with Breakfast... as Lola Served my meal with all the Love Her Vessel could Convey from the Admiralty Above.
These things don't just spontaneously happen... because I just happen to remember Lola's name doesn't mean that anyone else at Bob Evans in Bloomington is less worthy of my Recommendation... but, Lola was the One who Delivered a Meaningful Meal...We even agreed it was Manna of the Highest Order.
... and I know full well that Everyone at Bob Evans in Bloomington was Involved in it's Preparation and...
ย ย ย Read moreI have eaten here before on one of my visits to Bloomington and dined it. Food was good and the service as well. Today was a bit different of an experience. I was ordering dinner to have on a late train rode and even mentioned it to the young lady taking my order and ringing me up. I placed an order for the Homestyle Chicken Meal and a cup of chicken noodle soup, it was after 7:30 and I am not expecting the freshest of food but I rather be told your out of something than giving me something under board. I was calling Uber to take me to the train station afterwards. I was offered a courtesy drink as I waited for my order from another employee which I appreciated greatly. I am glad I checked most of my order before I left because I had not recieved the gravy for my mashed potatoes no utensils service or napkins .... I would have been SOL on the train trying to eat soup, corn and mashed potatoes with no spoon or fork. I get on the train and start eating and my soup is not soup it is tasteless salty noodles with no broth or liquid and had begun congealing. I eat my main course it was okay but I cant wait for my banana bread that I opted for instead of biscuits so that will make up for any hard feelings I hoped..... NOPE they cheated me and gave me 1 thin slice instead of the 2 I was supposed to recieve and that was clearly stated on my receipt . Needless to say I am HIGHLY...
ย ย ย Read moreHorrible, disappointing, and time consuming. I genuinely hate saying these things when it comes to this place as it was a family favorite growing up. Unfortunately this is the second time my boyfriend and I have been here in two weeks (we choose to give it another shot)โฆ Personally we felt like that was the wrong idea after we sat down. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted by our server (tried giving the benefit of the doubt since she said she was new). We ordered cold brews which took another 5-10 minutes to even get. Once we placed our order after almost being there a half hour we still had to wait over an hour for our food. (We got there at 11:15 we were there for about two hours). When we asked for drink refills after they took another 10-15 to even get those. Once our food came out we had to ask for silverware after not having it. (Our drinks came shortly after the food to give a perspective). As we were eating the food everything was undercooked. The bacon, sausage, eggs (which if you order scrambled eggs expect it to be watery and a mini folded omelet with nothing in it), the pancakes, and the french toast (these were so doughy you could tell it was just all under cooked). We did not even finish the dishes due to how it all tasted. At this point we just wanted to get out of there.
Please spend your time elsewhere this is not the top spot or should be. Will...
