China Express — Restaurant in Bloomington

As everyone expects more and more these days, it's important to remember where you're visiting. This is a quick serve Chinese food takeout restaurant. Not to be judged as a fancy place with valet service and a wine list longer than the actual menu.

That being said, this place is probably one of the best in the area. The food is always hot and they'll make more of something if it's not looking good in the display case. The fried rice is good and not very greasy at all. The chowmein is delicious as is their white rice. The white rice is not dry at all as it can be in other places. I've tried the majority of the dishes and they're all really good and I'll rotate but it's hard to make the choice. Lately I've been sticking with orange chicken and the red teriyaki chicken and other times I'll get broccoli beef, mushroom chicken or kung pow chicken. The garlic shrimp (a la carte item) are also delicious, they are a little pricy for the portion size. Regardless, the flavor and satisfaction is undeniable.

The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because they don't offer veggies as part of their rice/chowmein substitute as some places do. They offer string beans which are delicious but they count as one of your meat items.

Did I mention that they serve you enough for 2 people in 1...

Credit card machine took about 8 minutes to fail. The entire time I kept asking if they wanted me to go get cash. Finally when the receipt confirmed the transaction didn't go through they asked me to get cash.

But, that's not why I'm rating. The food is terrible. I got orange chicken on fried rice with two egg rolls. The chicken was cold in random spots. And, I don't mean cold like I waited 8 minutes for the card reader. It was colder than room temperature. Like it had just come out of the fridge and wasn't warmed up. What wasn't cold just tasted off. The eggrolls tasted old and almost sour. But, not as old as the fried rice which was bland on top of being stale.

I ended up spitting my food into my napkin and walked out with my Arizona iced tea (the only tea they had, but the only thing they couldn't screw up) leaving the rest at the table. I'm legitimately worried I'm going to get...

Love this place had to review it. I eat here a lot. The price is great. It's for the quality of food and the portions are outrageous. The place is very clean. Big-ticket, really good care. The service is excellent. What's even better is the prices. It's almost comparative to making my own food its that good priced. Sometimes I wonder why you go to the grocery market when I can just go to. They're trying to express for the same price.They cook for me.
