El Viejón Mariscos and Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Bloomington

Very bad service walked in at 8:59 the waiter looked right at us and walked to the back, we waited to be seated and no one came to seat me, so we sat ourselves, after a couple minutes waitress finally came to my table to give us menus left us with menus came back maybe 15-20 minutes later? To finally take our order. We ordered all at once and waited maybe another 20-30 minutes to bring our food mind you we are sitting there eating the chips with the salsa the whole time she didn't bring us our water that was requested or any drinks but was over chatting with the guys at the bar would look over at us and wouldn't bother asking if we needed water. She finally brought us our food and left NO SPOONS/FORKS and like 4 napkins. It was 4 of us sitting at the table. We used our fingers for "sushi" and for 3 of us that ordered sea food plates like aguachiles/ceviche she gave us 2 packets (that came w 3 tostadas each) when it was 3 OF US with plates that ordered ceviche/aguachile plates. She never came by to check on us at all. It came to the point were my sister in law and myself were sharing a napkin! we'd make eye contact and she'd walk right past us hurrying to pick up chairs and put them on the table? Never did she come by to tell us the kitchen was closing or that they were taking last calls for anything until we tried to get something and she said "oh the kitchen closed already" which was so unusual the restaurants I've been too have always done "last calls" before closing. It was like 9:45 mind you the door and online it says open until 11pm. Before leaving we asked for a container to take my food that I did not touch and she brought me a box. I looked at the box and asked her if she had a fork to put my food in the box with and she finally realized she had never given our table anything besides 4 napkins and 6 tostadas and had to go back to the kitchen for some. I'm not the type to ever leave bad reviews but I had came in for my boyfriends "birthday dinner" thinking this would be a nice spot to celebrate. I was very disappointed, I don't know if this is the usual service they give or if it was just the waiter "Johanna" that was just not keeping up they weren't busy only had like 3-4 other tables occupied and 2 guys sitting at the bar. The food my boyfriend/sister-in-law/cousin in law ate was good but it was just the service that was very disappointing.

The food was good which is why I'm giving 1 star but the service given by the waiter was horrible I gave no tip and I always make sure to leave a tip but it being my boyfriends birthday and something like this happening. Yeah no! We couldn't request anything special for his birthday or anything. If the closing time is 10pm instead of 11 like it says on the door/online it should really be updated by the owner it's a big inconvenience to sit around where chairs are being put up on the tables and the place literally closing as we're eating and us feeling rushed and not receiving good service due to uncorrected business hours. We just decided to try this place out. After all the mixed reviews we took our chances. The customer service at this location was horrible. No personalities or attentiveness . First, we walked in there and were asked to seat ourselves, which was fine. Then, we are sitting there waiting for like 15/20 minutes u til someone brought us chips and asked if we wanted drinks.(a family that came in after us was already ordering the food by this time)… We waited so long to get our order taken. It was weird bc first it was a waitress then she disappeared and it was the manager helping us. The food also took a while to come out, which is understandable, but when it did it was dry or too spicy or simply flavorless. So from our experience (adults and children included in our party) .. I would not recommend. If you like good customer service (like us) and good food - definitely not the place! Inside it looked nice-but that was about it. And for the dry nuggets, flower less burger, over spicy tacos, and unwelcoming staff- this was definitely a FAIL! Considering the food and customer service, it is was overpriced! Could have spent $100 elsewhere… and enjoyed...

What a waste of money. The service is horrible, the servers barely want to do their job. I’ve been to this location multiple times thinking maybe it’ll be better and again I am disappointed. There were 2 parties ahead of me not once were we greeted, we stood at the door for almost 5 mins and servers came and went and not one had the courtesy to at least say “welcome”. On another occasion i was ignored for more than 10mins when all I had asked for was ketchup, mind you the restaurant wasn’t even packed, I asked one server she left and never came back. The last visit was my last straw, I ordered Yakimeshi especial $15.99 that is described to have shrimp tempura with fried rice. I received a whole plate of rice and sauce and literally ONE SHRIMP CUT INTO 4 PIECES! I paid $16 for rice. Never going to this place again. If you decide to go here be ready to either waste your time or pay for overpriced food falsely...
