McDonald's has gone downhill. Employees drink and text in front of customers, sandwiches are almost literally thrown together and come out sloppy and sometimes even smashed, despite being in boxes. Bags are either way bigger than needed or too small, fries are either completely fresh or stale, no in between. All the food tastes stale, for that matter. McFlurries aren't made right, the top half is loaded with toppings and the bottom half is plain ice cream.
I worked at McDonald's 16 years ago. I would have been written up for half of the above, and we were sent home of caught drinking pop in front of customers, or if we had our phones on us. Not out and texting, but if they were on our person, we'd be written up and sent home. McFlurries should be made by filling the cup half way with ice cream, adding toppings, then filled the rest of the way with ice cream. Then mixed. This produces a uniform mix of toppings throughout, with little extra effort.
Sandwiches should be made by placing the ingredients on, not throwing them on.
Meat items have timers for when they are no good and should be thrown out. These timers are not supposed to be reset so you don't have to make more. Fries are only good in the warmers for so long.
Many times I've thought about applying to McDonald's as a restaurant fixer so I could actually do something about it.
This is across almost every McDonald's location I've visited in the last 5 years. It's not isolated, and it's not new. The employees keep changing, the behavior gets worse. That tells me it's an institutional problem.

One time I ordered online and arrived 1 or 2 minutes early. I was glad to wait an extra 10 cause they were busy, but 10 went by and I was barely even acknowledged or asked my order name. I ended up waiting about 45 minutes that day just standing there. Nobody seemed to care. At least the food was hot.
I've had other bad experiences, but today I decided to leave a bad review. As I pulled into the drive thru the man on the mic was super friendly. It was pretty quick that I realized he was high out of his mind. I ordered 2 meals and as he was putting the second meal on he forgot he was even speaking to me. He then added stuff on there I didn't order, acknowledged it without me having to say anything, and said he would take it off as I pulled through. When I waited in the line at the window, an older lady was trying to feed the guy in the drive through window something random out of a McDonald's cup. Obviously, trying to be polite, he chatted a bit and took one. She closed the window on him and didn't even take the money he had been trying to give them for forever. When it was my turn, the gentleman i spoke to first took over the window and couldnt even tell what eas happening. He mostly just giggled. She refused to give me her name but she was much older very grumpy lady with gray hair. I just got off of a very long shift and wanted to stop and get my husband and I a quick bite. The lady that took my order was fine but when I got to the 2nd window to grab my food the drinks were medium instead of large and when I told the girl that I had asked for 2 large cokes she read me back my order but she also had missed a plain mcchicken. So I reiterated what I wanted and she read me my order again I said I’ll pay the difference for the large and the 2nd sandwich that’s fine. The manager had the audacity to say that I need to drive all the way back around and re order that I had 7 people ahead of me after I had already ordered. Look I understand that orders get messed up I was willing to pay the difference since it didn’t get rung properly, but to say that I needed to drive around re order and get re charged again is absurd.
