Not impressed at all, and I won’t be back. Came for dinner with a reservation at 7pm. We were seated within 5 minutes. Sat at our table until 7:30pm before our server even acknowledged us to say she had to check on one other table quick and then she’d be with us. We waited five more minutes, and then she came over to the table adjacent from us to ask how they were doing, and the woman at that table ordered another drink. Then she proceeded to the table next to that to ask the same. She then walked back to the bar to put in the woman’s drink order. At this point I had enough. I went back to the hostess to ask to be moved to a different section. The hostess immediately came to our table and apologized, picked up my coat and purse and water and brought us to another section, and told us she would let “Richard” know right away that we hadn’t been waited on yet after 40 minutes. We then sat and waited another 10 minutes for a server to come to our table. That server was great, I must say. He was clearly trying to turn our experience around. He promptly took our order. We did have to wait again, however, for about 10 minutes for our drink. The appetizer beet salad I ordered came before I got my wine. And our meal was brought to the table at the same time, so I had to choose to be finished with my salad so as not to let my food get cold. Well, that was too late. My mashed potatoes were lukewarm at best. I let the server know when he returned to the table. He apologized and said he would get me some fresh potatoes right away. He returned a few minutes later with more lukewarm potatoes. I no longer was interested in eating the potatoes at this point. When we finished our food, he asked about dessert and recommended the bread pudding, which I will say, I thoroughly enjoyed-it was delicious. The rest of the food was only mediocre. I ordered the walleye fingers, garlic mashed potatoes and the Brussels sprouts. Overall, I appreciate the effort of our server that we ended up with, as well as the hostess, but I was disappointed with our experience as a whole and...
Read moreClassy (elegant) yet laid back (neighborhoody) restaurant. A place for special occasion or everyday dining, and for us was we are visiting from out of town. The staff members get 5 stars, especially Chantal. She was very attentive, kind and accommodating since we traveled with a tired and sleepy child. She came by with multiple kids stuffs :). That said, the child menu is very affordable and has a good selection.
We very much enjoyed our food at Woolleys. Don’t be surprised that it is right next to the Embassy Suites. It is an independent restaurant. We had the following:
Maple roasted Brussels sprout with pork belly and pecan- 4.5 stars. Love the saltiness and fattiness from the pork belly and crunch from the pecan with well cooked Brussels sprout. Would recommend making it a tad less wet, ie less maple sauce. regardless we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Walleye fingers - 4 stars. The breading is light and fluffy, not the heavy thick flour kind. Nice crunch and walleye was tasty. Love trying local ingredients. A squeeze of lemon and dip into the tartar sauce, yum. Need to eat it fresh as to go might not be as enjoyable.
Cobb salad with chicken and blue cheese- 4 stars. Ingredients were fresh with large variety of flavors which I appreciate as I despise a boring salad. The blue cheese were high quality.
Dessert samplers- 4.5 we had the crème brulee - a must have- you can see the vanilla bean and it is so creamy. Chocolate ganache cake- so moist and chocolaty. The whiskey infused bread pudding topped with apples- it was good but would add a little more whiskey 😊.
Overall I would give this place a 4.5 stars if I could put in half a star. Thank you Chantal for making our evening and visit to...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant based on the reviews and were sorely disappointed. The hostess, Stephanie, was amazing. She prepared our table for us, got us a high chair, water, silverware, etc….. she took care of everything. Our wait staff, well that’s another store. We placed our drink order. He told us it was a great choice- and then, at the end of our drink order, tells us they are out of the apple cider and can’t make the apple cider mules. 🤦🏼♀️ uh yea, maybe tell us when we initially order the drink. He did recommend the pineapple mules, and they were decent. Our table was split into 2 groups. We sat in such a way to keep the groups separate and easy to distinguish. We ordered by the group, so it would be easy to keep the tickets straight. And it went down hill from there. It took almost an hour to receive 5 burgers, a couple of side salads and a few apps. An hour! The restaurant was almost completely empty. Idk how it could take an hour to receive our food. And when it did finally arrive, the server didn’t know what was what or what went where. In addition, one of our side salads was delivered before the meal, and other one arrived with the meal. Not sure why they decided to deliver them at 2 different times, but made for an awkward situation. When it came time for the bill….. another set of problems. Half the food was on the wrong bill, and they over charged us by almost double for one of the salads. It took 3 tries before the bill was straightened out.
The only good part was the server letting us know that a mandatory gratuity of 18% was already on our bill and not to leave extra
As other have said: nice place, pricey food, and...
