Decided to try the new place (were el rancho regulars) and support a local business. I wondered if they were even open as we were the only ones there for maybe 3/4 of our meal. Our server was prompt and friendly, however the prices were higher than I expected with the average dish being $14-$16. The chips were ok/average, nothing special and not warm. The queso cheese dip was horrible, room temperature and thick like it came right out of a store bought bottle of Pace, seriously no warmth at all and bland. I ordered the Monterey Burrito ($15) with beef/pork/beans and it came with a side of rice and beans. The burrito granted was thick (but short) and filling, however the same bland queso dip was on top. The rice appeared way over cooked and was crunchy, beans were good for dipping chips in. The wife had the taco salad and was also large, plenty to take home. The service and food were good, a little high for what you get. Not sure about the music they play, kinda a k-pop Latino music, lots of repetition of annoying sounds and beats (one song had a high pitched dog barking all though it). The interior needs some sprucing up, very bland, open and empty feeling but leaves room for improvement. Had "ice cream" for desert, kinda weird as it's not traditional ice cream but more of a very fine shaved ice, appears all water based and no dairy in what I had. Overall, we'd go back but we'll give them a while to refine things.

Let me just start with it was our first time going and would definitely go back just on taste alone. Authentic Mexican in our opinion. The hot pot was GREAT. My mom liked the sancho burrito. Rice and beans were tasty. The chips were fresh. And salsa was not chunky!!! I feel like the chicken quesadilla is way over priced. $12 and it was a small portion with no sides. With my left over hot pot I added hominy and it took it to the next level!! The soup was expensive too but it was great. With the added hominy and tortillas I made it into 3 meals. $15.99 was the cost. It was not too busy. Service was ok. I felt she could have been more attentive since it wasn’t that busy. Overall the experience was worth going. Oh and I wish they inquired if you had shared their post because I definitely forgot I did and missed out on my free ice cream lol

We have lived in Blue Springs since 1979 and love Mexican food! We travel all over to try different Mexican restaurants. We have waited several weeks to try this one. We have seen the mixed reviews. We decided to go there today and try it and we were not disappointed! The Chili rellenos are only a special on Wednesday, but they said I could order it, which I did, and my wife got the hot pot. Both were awesome and hot! We got Espinaca dip for starters and it was awesome as well! We went during happy hour and had several house margaritas (8 total) and loved them!!! Then it was time for desserts and we checked out their ice cream bar. Too many ice creams that looked good, we tried the one that looked like strawberry swirl and it was awesome! Nancy was our server and did a 5 star job!!! Will definitely come back!!!

Let me start by saying that we came here and had Nancy as our server previously this week. We even left a great review and said we would be back. We came back less than a week later, bringing someone that had never been, and had a terrible experience. I will say that with the proper staffing, this place can be great. We came here when it first opened, and the food was terrible, menu was small, but great service. So, we wanted to give the restaurant time to make changes. The second time was great. Menu was improved. Food was great. Let's talk about this third time at 2:30pm on a Sunday. In between a lunch and dinner rush.

I imagine they were extremely understaffed. We walked in to basically every table needing to be bussed. It was chaos. There was no host as there was on the previous day this week. The man that seated us walked us to a table that needed to be bussed. I walked back towards the front wanting to give him a few minutes. He proceeded to pick up the plates and let us sit down. I had to ask for him to come wipe the table, crumbs, and lettuce from the previous customers. It took longer than normal for us to get chips and salsa. The chips were cold and stale. I asked for fresh chips. He took them back and brought back another basket of the same cold, stale chips pretty much instantly. We got cheese dip and asked for napkins, since we didnt have silverware and a napkin to even start with. We never got the napkins. We ordered 3 different alcoholic beverages.....and after about 10-15 minutes of waiting for napkins, our drinks, and for our orders to be taken, we just put cash on the table for cheese dip and walked out. As stated, I definitely think it was a staffing issue. However, a lot has to do with training. We never should have been sat at a table until it was bussed and cleaned. There was a woman walking around....unsure what she was doing or how she was helping her team. She wasn't taking orders or bussing messy tables. Completely unproductive. Everyone should have been bussing and helping each other out. It was an absolute disaster. We will not give up on that place, considering the great experience we had our second time there. Would definitely advise people trying it for their first time to give it some time as well. They need to work on their staff, communication, and teamwork to make this a successful business. Hopefully our next experience there in a couple months will be as great...

We wanted to give the new restaurant a try. I asked for a table of 5. The host sat us in a booth for 4 & said we all could fit. The restaurant was fairly empty & could have easily pulled two tables together for us to sit comfortably. We asked our server if we could pull a chair over. She looked very confused & didn't know how to respond. They did not have a drink menu available nor did the server know of the drink specials or prices. I had ordered a burrito but did not want the rice or beans. It's the same price regardless so we asked for the rice to be to-go, which came out on a separate plate. My husband was asking if the salad he was interested in could have regular lettuce be substituted for the spring mix. Again, confusion from the server. We are keeping consideration of everything still being new so he ordered a different item. When the meals came out the plates came out extremely hot but half of the meals were medium in temp. The plates were a very large square. With 5 of us in a booth, two pitchers of margaritas, 4 drinks, 5 glasses of water/soda and chips & salsa we were very well packed and stacking what we could be make room for everything. As the evening went on we saw them pull two tables together & ended up only seating 3 at that table. Very frustrating while we were all crammed together. The food was decent but was low in quantity for the price you are paying and a pitcher of margaritas ended up being $26. We felt this was much higher than other local Mexican restaurants. We were sitting for a very long time after we were done with our meal waiting for our bill. My husband went & found a person to find our server. When they went to look for her they discovered she had left. She had our table & the one next to us. Neither table received an apology nor any kind of compensation for the inconvenience. This was not a good first experience & we will...
