Great pizza. Terrible, terrible accounting and accountability when it comes to the check for food and beverage. We won’t be back.
A few weeks ago I ordered takeout. I asked if I could “substitute” one veggie for another on one of my two pizzas I ordered. An additional charge was added for takeout, and when I “substituted” one veggie for another on one pizza, an additional up charge was added there too. When I asked about each the hostess said she “just puts it into the computer.” My concern was, and I looked on the menu and at the hostess station, nowhere did it say there was an additional charge for takeout, nor for a like for like substitution even though the hostess said a veggie for veggie substitution would be fine. I took it stride and accepted it.
On my second visit with a friend the other night we asked specifically if we could substitute jalapeños for black olives on one of the pizzas, and if there was an up charge for the substitution. Our server assured us there was no up charge for this substitution.
At the conclusion of our dinner we asked if we could split the food bill on two separate checks, and have the two alcoholic drinks put on one of the split checks. Our server was very understanding and said that would be fine.
Here’s the accounting concern. Our bill contained an up charge for the veggie “substitution” even though we asked and we were assured there would be none. Our two wines were priced an additional $2.00 each on the check than what they were priced on the menu. Then our entire bill was charged a 12% tax - the normal 7% food tax (no issue here), and the addition S.C. 5% liquor drink tax - so even our food was charged the additional 5% liquor drink tax. When we asked our server, she shrugged, and said it’s all done by the computer. We pointed out the errors and our server again shrugged, and said it was all done by the computer.
Yes, we could have disputed the issue with a manger but this was one time we just shrugged and decided we would just not return, ever. One of us is also in the local business community referring clients and visitors to local establishments. Local Pie will not only NOT be recommend, it will be brought out as an establishment to avoid based on this experience with very poor business accounting and staff...
Read moreOrdered a large D'Artagnan and was not disappointed. Very good pizza. Cooked perfectly, plenty of toppings, great flavor. I asked for a cup of marinara sauce to dip my crust in and my waitress quickly responded and I was pleased an extra charge for it didn't pop up on my check. I'm not a fan of the marinara unfortunately. It has a good base but whomever made it was heavy handed with the oregano. Not sure if this is a one off batch or the norm since this was my first visit.
Service was a bit slow. I waited a solid hour for my pizza. The staff was polite and kept the drinks coming. It's pretty loud. Even with the place half empty it was almost too loud to have a conversation. The roof is fairly echo prone and it amplifies the sound quite a bit.
The chairs are a 90° L shape and were not comfortable for me. People with back problems beware.
Bathrooms were clean and well stocked and the whole establishment seems well maintained.
The atmosphere has dim lighting and is tastefully decorated. I'd say it would be a great date place, but it really was just too loud.
Still, I really liked the pizza. I'll be...
Read moreCredit where credit is due, the food was good. After we were seated it took a while for our server to make an appearance but it was busy and it was no issue. Then we got our appetizers before we got our drinks which had been ordered before our appetizers...apparantly she had forgotten to ring them in. Still not a big deal. We heard the bartender tell some customers that they closed in 3 minutes right around 9:30(which didnt match the posted closing time of 11:30 on Friday night) but had already ordered the cookie and ice cream dessert so naturally when it was presented to us in a to go box we understood why. Still not a big problem. My problem is the cookie. Whipped cream isnt a substitute for ice cream. And whatever tube they squeezed that cookie mush out of must not have had the cooking instructions written largely enough on it. I got a smeared cookie paste on tin foil sheet with a little whipped cream on it and due to it, the corresponding broken heart that comes along with such a blasphemous abomination. So I had to go home and spend the 12 minutes it takes to make...
